COOK COUNTY GUN BAN CLEARS FIRST HURDLE (CHICAGO)

ISRA Alert: TOTAL COOK COUNTY GUN BAN CLEARS FIRST HURDLE

Rabid gun-grabbers on the Cook County Board came one step closer last week to instituting a total ban on firearm ownership in the county – except for police and military personnel.

Introduced by Commissioner William Beavers, the so-called “Safe Streets/Weapons Registration Ordinance” appears on the surface to be some sort of gun registration scheme. However, closer examination reveals that the only people who could comply with the registration requirements would be Chicago residents who had previously registered their guns with the city. Everyone else in Cook County would have to turn in their guns to the police. The ordinance would certainly ban all handguns as the ordinance disallows registration of handguns that do not have a “chamber load” indicator. Few, if any, handguns could comply with this requirement, so they would have to be surrendered to the police.

The full text of Beavers’ proposed ordinance may be found here. To learn more about William Beavers, click this link: http://www.co.cook.il.us/district04.htm .

William Beavers is an enemy to our Constitution and an enemy to all freedom-loving people of the United States. Call him at (312) 603-2065 and also call his other office at (773) 731-1515 and tell them exactly what you think of Beavers and his plan to disarm law-abiding citizens.

Another gun-hater on the Cook County Board is Larry Suffredin. Suffredin has fielded a proposed ordinance that would shut down all gun shops in the county. You may read about that ordinance by clicking here.

Larry Suffredin is an enemy to our Constitution and an enemy to all freedom-loving people of the United States. For full information on Larry Suffredin, click this link: http://www.co.cook.il.us/district13.htm . Call Suffredin at 847-864-1209 and 312-603-6383 and tell them exactly what you think of Larry Suffredin’s plan to punish law-abiding gun owners.

Even if you don’t live in Cook County, or even if you don’t live in Illinois for that matter, call anyway. Freedom is at stake here.

In addition to calling these gun-hating stooges, please do the following:

1. Post this alert to any and all Internet bulletin boards of which you are a member.

2. Send this alert to all your gun owning friends and ask them to call Beavers and Suffredin too!

Remember – preservation of our 2nd Amendment rights is a cultural imperative. Gun control is a disease; you are the cure!

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own
Government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million
Dollars. The first year results are now in:

List of 7 items: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent
Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent Australia-wide, armed
Robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

My hat's off to you for that kind of shooting.

My recipe goes through a Steyr Scout, and a Ruger M77 RSI. It's a very accurate load, but too slow a propellent for an M1A.

You would think these nitwits would at least wait until the court hears the DC ban.

The SC chickened out on Miller. Proof of the utility of short barreled shotguns was written into the National Firearms Act. It exempted the military from the restriction.

Really? Too bad there was no opposing council, not even an amicus brief, to point that out. Of course since the case was directly appealed, interested parties, like the NRA, might not have even heard about the case in time to file such a brief.

I just took a quick at the current form of the NFA, and there is no *specific* exemption for the military, there is a *general* one for any US government agency, and other exemptions for state and local government agencies.

Not if they're afraid it will be overturned. I'm guessing they want to get this passed and as many guns collected and as many gun owners who don't want to hand them over arrested as possible while they still can.

So far I have had to swear two different affidavits that the kid won't have access to my guns while visiting in my house---and they still keep bringing it up at every hearing they have in Chicago.

That's just sick. Why shouldn't the kids be able to take part in a activity, with their grandmother, that has been endorsed by no less than Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declamation of Independence, former Ambassador to France Third President of these United States, and founder of the University of Virginia?

From Letter to Peter Carr, his nephew.

In order to assure a certain progress in this reading, consider what hours you have free from the school and the exercises of the school. Give about two of them, every day, to exercise; for health must not be sacrificed to learning. A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body, and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks. Never think of taking a book with you. The object of walking is to relax the mind.

I'd suggest an "Equal protection argument". Of course child custody courts seem less bound by the Constitution than most other sorts.

Art IV,Section. 2, Constitution of the United States.

The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.

IOW, when in Texas, Illinois citizens have the rights of Texans. And that includes the right to go shooting with your Grannie, or gramps as the case may be.

Well, if they don't and that case goes the way the Constitution says it must, then maybe Chicago's laws should be the first test of wether a city or state can infringe upon the right of the people which the federal government may not. A 14th amendment "incorporation" case, or possibly even go back the original understanding of "priveleges and immunities of citzens of the United States" under the 14th amendment, which the immunity from having one's RKBA infringed upon is certainly one.

And that’s why I did not write that the law *specifically* exempted the military from the NFA tax provision.
