If you think political correctness on our college campuses is a threat to free speech, I have a news flash for you. It's even worse than that. It's actually putting the lives of our young people at risk.
Sound a bit over the top? Only if you haven't read a riveting account by a campus psychiatrist who knows the price our children are paying mentally, emotionally and physically for the attitudes that allow the "sexual revolution" to rage unchecked in the halls of "higher learning."
That psychiatrist, Dr. Miriam Grossman, took a bold step last year when she first published "Unprotected: A Campus Psychiatrist Reveals How Political Correctness in Her Profession Endangers Every Student." So bold, in fact, that the original hardcover edition (now out in paperback) listed the author as "Anonymous, M.D." The potential for backlash, personally and professionally, was all too real.
Backlash for what, you ask? Oh, writing sentences like this: "Casual sex is a health hazard for young women." Believe it or not, such expressions the embodiment of common sense to just about every parent on earth represent rank heresy in Dr. Grossman's profession. You're expected to hand out condoms and push "safe sex" (or "safer sex") on students at every turn, but never, ever "pass judgment" on any behavior. One should encourage "experimentation" and downplay any moral and religious concerns as the undesirable traits of a "patriarchal" society. Abstinence is an unattainable ideal, and "tradition" is another word for "repression."

They are just now realizing this????? Geez.
problem was her friends had video taped the alleged rape
tape revealed this young woman was the agressor
she reported the rape 3 days after she had sex with the young man publicly
morning after regrets to the max
-----------
another case -- 21 year old -- went to a young man's apartment off campus -- drank heavily, smoked pot
his friends taped the encounter
while she tried to cry rape... she had actually encouraged the young man
both cases very sad... and these young women were haunted by what they had done
I wondered at the time why their mothers didn't warn them about this behavior

Sounds like the best advice for college men is to install a video capture system.
Most parents are either unaware of the “sex with anyone, at anytime, in any fashion, for any reason” culture pervading today’s campuses. No no, this is nothing new and has been going for ages, trust me...
I’m one of the dinosaurs on FR, having been born in 1950. Of course sexual attitudes were more restrained in the past, especially those of women. (”Nice girls don’t do it and so forth.) Attitudes were even more restrained before the mid-1960s. To get a sense of that, look at old television shows. I remember that in the late 1950s, a man down the street stayed up late at night in order to see the bra commercials on TV. They were considered too sexually-charged for anything other than late night television.
I spent WAY too much time in laboratories when I was a student.
I certainly hope these college men have a better idea than a video capture system.
Note to self: re-enroll at alma mater.....
All the guys are running around in boxers and most of the girls are running around dressed like strippers. Guess these young women are really empowered.
In some schools they’ll press rape charges against the guy if the girl as had even 1 drink. Evidently under the concept that he took advantage of her in her drunken state. Brown University is one example that pushes this.
Michigan? Minnesota? Mississippi? Montana? Moldavia? Mali? Madagascar? Malaysia?
Must have been anchovies
Midrassa Shia University...
Thanks for sharing.
Keep up the great, rewarding work teacher.
Sure wasn’t that way at my college.
As usual, things are way exaggerated.
Does some of this go on.....yes. At some schools, more than others.
But, it happened 30 years ago just as bad.
Interesting.
What subject do you teach?
I am in my first year teaching TV production and speech in middle school. It is awful...the discipline issues. I hope I get it figured out; if not, I can’t do it next year!
I might get my doctorate in history and teach college then.
The children who grew up in the Clinton era have come of age. Their whole lives they were instructed that oral sex was not “sex”.
I had read a vague little line about an Ivy League campus where homophobia was considered " the unwillingness to engage in sodomy." 1/3 of the males there had supposedly declared themselves homosexual. Looks like Columbia is that school.
