Wait just a darned minute here.
Global warming should be helping.
After all, it’s making more, not less beach space.
At least to those who believe in Global Warming.

Love the imagery. I think that "Herds of Stampeding Walruses" should be added to the "We're DOOMED" posts....
As in..."DOOMED. Bush's Fault. Women and Children hardest hit. Dogs and Cats living together, herds of stampeding walruses, TOTAL ANARCHY!"

Sea ice is still salty. Less so than seawater, but still salty. Old sea ice (blue in color) is less salty than new sea ice (white in color)
I was surprised to find this out, too. The more you know....

How dare you pick on Wilford. He’s one of my favorite actors and delivered some of the best lines in the movies in which he worked. Who could forget that conference room scene in “Absence of Malice?” “...somebody’s ass in my briefcase.” Laugh every time I think about it.

Every time a “scientist” does this, they lessen the creditability of SCIENCE itself! They are causing damage to their reputations also. I guess money trumps everything for this type...

No large-scale walrus die-offs were seen in Alaska during the same periodAmerican walruses are smarter than Russian walruses. Capitalism works again, our walri invested their money and bought their own ice flows.

But ice disappeared in the Chukchi Sea this year because of warm summer weather, ocean currents and persistent eastern winds, Garlach-Miller said. Note the three causes cited. There's actually also a fourth: less than usual cloud cover.
The effects of the winds aren't trivial either - they've been blowing sea ice up north on the Bering Strait side of the Arctic, and blowing it south into warmer water on the Greenland side of the Arctic, where it melts because it is further south than usual.
