“Thank you for reading the entire article.”

“I’m surprised at the number of people here who didn’t.”

I’m not surprised at all, we have a lot of Freepers who make comments without taking the trouble to understand what it is they are commenting on.

I thought maybe I had read a different article. You read the same one I did. The COL makes reasonable statements. WHether it's torture or not, he does not say it should never be used.

I don’t think we should shoot commercial airliners down very often [I think it’s illegal], but the left was sure looking for someone to hang when hijacked airliners were not shot down on 9/11.

You don’t take anything off the table. Trying to ‘outlaw’ water boarding in a spending bill is the reason you can’t trust the left [or John McCain]. I don’t care how long he was a POW, you don’t take torture of enemy combatants [not covered by Geneva Conv] off the table of the President. Just like he can shoot down [or delegate] airliners, he should be able to authorize [or delegate] ‘torture’ [or expanded interrogation procedures] as Commander in Chief as necessary.

My guess is that those tapes--if they exist at all--are still being used by active agents. They can't release it to the press if the lives of our operatives are still at risk.

It seems Congress doesn't see it that way, though. It only proves how stupid they are.

“Did you read the entire article, or just the snippet”

I didn’t need to read the entire article, I’ve seen that clown Hunt on TV many times and he is a true blue democrat dressed up in the “I care about the soldiers so lets bring them home” uniform. He purports to be a common man kind of guy, like another democrat named Wesley Clark. I’d rather listen to General Tom McInerney.

How do you deal with “people” who really believe that they will experience a “heaven” if they can just kill some Jews and/or Christians? How do you deal with “people” who would gladly put a bomb around their child’s waist if they can just kill some Jews and/or Christians?
A quick death is nothing to them.
However, they are nothing but spineless cowards who will not be able to stand pain.
Torturing those “people” is morally and ethically justified.

This brings to mind the plague of kidnappings in Lebanon during the 80’s, when most of the people kidnapped were Americans or Western Europeans. We all remember how long they remained prisoners. Then a KGB operative was kidnapped. Within days, the muslims began receiving body parts in the mail. The hostage was released forthwith.

I suppose the obvious lesson to be learned is that...waterboarding is mean-spirited, bad for the children, causes global warming and just plain wrong. Much better it is to wear bright uniforms, and march in straignt lines through the woods.
