HUCKABEE DWI CLEMENCY, DONATIONS RAISE QUESTIONS
MSNBC ^ | December 15, 2007 | Amna Nawaz

Questions are being raised about then-Gov. Huckabee's 2004 decision to grant clemency to a repeat Driving While Intoxicated offender in Arkansas named Eugene Fields, despite the objections of a law enforcement official at the time. Documents obtained by NBC News reveal Fields' case was handled differently from any other DWI clemency or pardon granted by Huckabee, and some Republicans are now suggesting significant political contributions may have influenced the governor's decision.

Long article. Worth a read. One does wonder what influenced Huckabee to grant clemency to a repeat offender when both law enforcement and MADD objected to it. You would think that law enforcement would know what it is talking about. Will Huckabee listen to the advice of those in a position to know (e.g. military leaders) or just follow his "heart" all the time (or the money, whatever it may be)?

There is evidence both of corruption and of naivite, so you can take your pick.

Apparently, if a criminal says “I’ve seen the light and I repent!” that’s good enough for Huckabee.

But he also likes slush money.

Arkansas sure breeds Governors that will defy common sense for donations. Huckabee, no different than B. Clinton.

Huck has “Willie Horton” problems. He is soft on crime.

Thats what appears to be coming to light. Huck sure likes the buck. Except when it stops at him.

Huckster is apparently open to being bribed. Bribery is listed in the Constitution as an impeachable offense. I do not want to take any chance of having such a person elected as President, then impeached for some act of bribery or other.

Dump the Huckster NOW.

No doubt he will apply that same philosophy to illegals.

I hope we never have the opportunity to know!

I’ll say it again, the man is not fit for the office which he seeks.

Huck should be running in the Democrat primaries. He’s too far gone to even be a RINO

Even Rudy will wipe the floor with him once the ads start in earnest.

Anyone donating to Huck is wasting their money.

Maybe not a complete waste. What if you got a DWI in Arkansas? It might come in handy then.

The more I hear about huckleberry, the less I like what I hear. No wonder the MSM is boosting him.

Whatever Huckabee’s motivation, all these clemencies and pardons show his liberal tendencies.

I cant believe that “Christians” so worried about Romney being a Mormon....are supporting this crook.

He is so crooked even Jesus cant save him

Now, Huckabee never earned a theology degree...contrary to what he claims (WND story which I do not have time to link)

No wonder he needs Chuck Norris to defend him....there will be a lot of teed-off former supporters

A serious question.

So lemme get this straight. A guy has six DWIs, gets sent to prison, his wife donates ten grand to the Republican Party of Arkansas and Huckabee commutes his sentence. He drives drunk again, narrowly avioding a head-on collision with a police officer, and all Huckabee can say is he’s “disappointed.”

I cannot believe that anybody in his or her right mind would vote for this man.
