Hey Dano1/Dane:

How do you defend this?

Sure is a lot of stuff that comes out with Huck. The other candidates running for the first time, Giuliani, Romney, Thomspon, haven't had nearly so much explaining to do.

Gives you the impression that it is just starting, and there will be a steady stream of stuff like this for a long while.

So lemme get this straight. A guy has six DWIs, gets sent to prison, his wife donates ten grand to the Republican Party of Arkansas and Huckabee commutes his sentence. He drives drunk again, narrowly avioding a head-on collision with a police officer, and all Huckabee can say is he’s “disappointed.”

Ouch!

And . . . bump.

Actually, I could see a quick drop for Mr. Huckabee. He may pop up and be knocked down like the old Whack-a-mole game.

Hey, now, a commuted sentence is a step up from a prayer cloth, lucky coin, or a blessed shower cap.../s

Consider that the same arguments and selling points being used on Huckaboo were also Clinton 'selling points.' First, one of the 'nation's top governors' (according to who); msecond that he edged Arkansas up out of the celler on education or some other thing. And on and on.

I want to see if Huckie has ties to Tyson, Chinese money, the Southern Mafia, etc.

I already think there is enough to keep him off the ticket.

On Fields' application for a commutation of his sentence, four options are listed as possible reasons as to why the application was being made, including, "I wish to correct an injustice which may have occurred during trial," and, "I want to adjust what may be considered an excessive sentence." No boxes are checked on Fields' application; instead "N/A" is written across the top of the sheet, for "Not Applicable."

That's because there was no box for "I want to pay a bribe to the governor."

I'm going to print the article. I may have a friend who needs to read it! This issue is one I'm all too familiar with, unfortunately, from a couple of different perspectives.

While I know there are cases where clemency is EARNED over YEARS of righteous living, it should not be handed out like a parting gift. The donation to the Republican party makes me ill. Huckabee isn't my guy, yet I still don't want to believe he could be bought.

Frankly, I’d almost rather think he was taking bribes than think that he was an idiot, bleeding heart liberal in the Carter vein who would let off every criminal who gave him a sob story, and, worse, be lenient with every foreign enemy and illegal alien who gave him a sob story.
