conservatives who appreciate free speech cannot vote for Fred either. He spent years trying to shut it down with CFR while ignoring illegals. Every conservative in this country understood this and said it loudly, yet Thompson and McCain went full speed ahead.
I find it remarkable the ignorance of those complaining of his position on CFR which had everything to do with attempting to rid the corrupting influence of money in political campaigns. While he acknowledged it did not work out in the manner he had hoped, at least he was trying to do something about it. His singular focus during most of his adult life while in public service was ridding corruption from government.
As to his position on illegals, if I thought for a moment he was deficient in that area in the least, he would not have my support, period. I have to deal with those invaders about as up close and personal as they come... 20 feet away from my house. I want every last one of them gone.

I didn’t know this about Fred. I have one person left, anybody but Hillary?
This is a poor group.
While I am still undecided, I am amazed at the lack of discussion regarding Thompson and CFR. Hard to line that up with conservative thought in any manner.
Romney also praised McCain for his general reform campaign when the Arizona senator came to Massachusetts to stump with Romney just before Romney's 2002 election victory in the governor's race. "He has always stood for reform and change. And he's always fought the good battle, no matter what the odds," Romney said at the time. "Those are my values."
