“Meet the Press” is always a problem for people who have no core beliefs or who are trying to disguise their true core beliefs.

You mean to tell me that Mitt wasn’t working for and supporting Avi Nelson in 1978? I’m shocked!! The next thing I’ll hear is that he NEVER VOTED FOR REAGAN. Boy, wouldn’t that be surprising.

I don’t know about having no neck but Duncan did have THE BALLS to serve two tours as an infantryman in Vietnam. I supposed he could have sought a deferment for college and/or served as a missionary somewhere but guys like Hunter couldn’t look himself in the mirror if he did that. Other guys can though.

There sure seems to be an extraordinary amount of effort on this board to smack down a 4th place candidate who is unelectable.

Meanwhile, who else is challenging the Guilani and Huckster tag team as they dominate the polls?

"And in most cases, he was on the conservative side, the major exceptions being gays, abortion, and guns."

I consider those to be pretty major issues for which a Republican candidate needs to be "right".

"...gays in the military, deeply affecting unit cohesion and wartime fighting capabilities in time of war."

Exactly.

My husband was a naval aviator, and has said the same thing.

I agree, although on gays I consider myself conservative but some don’t think I hate gays enough.

That is why I am pleased that Mitt is now on the conservative side on those issues. But there is a lot more to the conservative view than those three issues — and those three get the coverage because they are the ones Mitt changed his position on.

LOL!

I don’t hate gays at all!

However, I haven’t enjoyed my forays into Portland, and being hit on by a lesbian.

They usually aren’t Lipstick Lesbians, either.

My point is that I resent their attempts to change our culture.
They want more than equality...they want to destroy marriage.

I don’t like them one bit.

One more thing...I think Mitt pandered to the voters in MA.

Hopefully, given his background, he’s not pandering now.

How are we to know, though?

Romney will say anything. I do not believe he can be trusted.

The shear volume of anti-Mitt threads on freerepublic would indicate to any rational thinking individual, that he is the one everyone is worried about....most especially those supporting other candidates.

Yep. He is definitely one of the candidates I am worried about, that's for sure.

Mitt has always been a conservative. He thought the government shouldn’t be involved in abortion (I believe that now), he was labeled as an abortionist, although he never believed in abortion. He only believed that the government shouldn’t be involved in it.

His record clearly shows that he governed Mass as a conservative, even with an 85% democrat majority in the houses. He got a lot of major accompolishments done.

By the way, I have not decided who I “support”, but I have definitely ruled out Romney, Huckabee, Paul, and Giuliani. McCain is out of the question too, unless he begs forgiveness for McCain-Feingold and I believe it. Unlikely, to say the least. I like Thompson but I want to see and hear more. I really like Duncan Hunter but I wish he would get some traction in a hurry.

FRegards,
LH

Your inability to understand that Mitt did claim to have the endorsement of the NRA, and that that was a lie, makes me think you are brainwashed.

on gays I consider myself conservative but some don’t think I hate gays enough.

So you're saying that Christians hate gays?

Chuckie, Chuckie, you're a liberal, it's time to come to terms with it.
