'Another Lying Ex-governor from Arkansas in White House?'
National Ledger via News By Us Blog ^ | November 16, 2007 | John W. Lillpop

Most Americans recall all too well the turmoil and discord of the Clinton Presidency of 1992-2000. While in office, President Clinton fine tuned the art of issuing misleading, inaccurate and flat out false statements into a precise science.

The unvarnished truth is that President Clinton lied through his teeth, regularly and unashamedly.

Perjury and obstruction of justice eventually caught up with President Clinton, as he was ultimately stripped of his license to practice law and forbidden from arguing before the U.S. Supreme Court, at least temporarily.

Fifteen years after the Democrat ex-governor from Arkansas lied his way into the White House, the Republican party has its own silver tongued, double talking “bubba.”

That would be Mike Huckabee, another ex-governor from Arkansas who finds the truth devilishly elusive, or downright disgusting to be more precise.

Mike Huckabee has been caught in a real whopper, even by the standards for deceit set by Bill Clinton.

Apparently, Huckabee lied about having a degree in theology.

The mind boggles: An ordained Baptist pastor and first-tier presidential candidate lied about having a degree in theology! What in the hell is this nation coming to?

Even more distressing is Huckabee’s record while serving as the CEO of Arkansas. This governor raised taxes and encouraged illegal immigration, for heaven’s sake!

And now he is running as the candidate best suited to meet conservative expectations in 2008?

God, please, spare America and her people from another lying ex-governor from Arkansas in the Oval Office!

Make that “God, please, spare America and her people from another lying ex-governor from Arkansas, or female spouse thereof, in the Oval Office!”

Theology degrees, at least in the Catholic tradition, survey various religions, but include extensive coursework in the study of God and His relationship to His creation.

Usually they are only earned at the graduate level.

There might be a whole course on explaining the effect of graCe on man’s soul, and another just on creation.

In Catholicism, at least, these are upper level courses that incorporate Scripture, Church traditions, and history.

Just as legal principles are applied to specific situations in law school, theological principles are applied to specific actions in theology classes.

Religion is broader, less precise, and can encompass lots of survey classes, and are generally less difficult and covered at the undergraduate level.

Academically, there is a big difference between a major in religion and a degree in theology.

I do not know if all this applies in Baptist schools, but perhaps the training is very different for different religions.

That may explain the vastly different perceptions on Huckabee’s assertiions.

How, then, does Hugh disagree with Huckabee? Seems according to you that their stances are identical.

Cool down on the calling me a “liar” thing. Can we not have a conversation without you bringing it to an abrupt close by calling me a “liar.” That’s a pretty desperate rhetorical technique. Perhaps a good night’s sleep helped you a bit.

Catholic does not equal Baptist.

I suppose you’ve identified yourself with my previous statement. Thanks for continueing to make my point.
Only, one of your quotes can be attributed to me. However, that shouldn’t get in your way. It’s difficult and fruitless to have a reasonable exchanges with the unreasonable. Theo is not a Huckabee supporter like myself, yet was calling for simple honesty. Just look at responses he received. I'm sure you'll view my lack of response to your perceived Huckabee record as a victory. Folks like yourself seem to own FR now. Hoping that changes.

Arkansas Ping!

Anyone who gives the 3rd world dictatorship Mexico a $1.2 million consulate behind the backs of the people in his state does not follow lead by the Bible. It doesn't matter what degree he has!

Jesus stood up to the corrupt, Huckabee rewards them!
