ORANGEBURG, South Carolina (CNN) – Former President Bill Clinton said Monday that the first thing his wife Hillary will do when she reaches the White House is dispatch him and his predecessor, President George H.W. Bush, on an around-the-world mission to repair the damage done to America's reputation by the current president — Bush's son, George W. Bush.

"Well, the first thing she intends to do, because you can do this without passing a bill, the first thing she intends to do is to send me and former President Bush and a number of other people around the world to tell them that America is open for business and cooperation again," Clinton said in response to a question from a supporter about what his wife's "number one priority" would be as president.

A spokesman for the George H.W. Bush was not immediately available to comment on whether the former president would chip in some diplomatic help after his son leaves office next year.

If we restore the great relationship Bill established with the Taliban and Al Queda while President, maybe he can donate his library to them as a training facility, as an olive branch gesture.

To think that Bush Sr. would even talk to a Clinton after the way they have treated his son....his own son whose first agenda item was to undo the damage created by his father’s (GHW Bush’s) tax hike. Disgusting. If this is true, he’s disloyal to his own son. He’s treating Clinton better than he is his own flesh and blood.

All of this is coming out of Clinton's mouth, so who's to tell if it really is true or not. Then again, considering how the Bush's like to treat the Republican base sometimes, I can well imagine 41 lending a helping hand to Clinton. I remember hearing once that the Bush's value loyalty above all other virtues. I think it would have been more correctly stated as "loyalty to me but not to thee".

UPDATE: The Republican National Committee issued this statement in response to Clinton’s comments:

“In 2009, a Republican president will be working with our friends and allies abroad to continue to keep our nation safe,” said RNC spokesman Danny Diaz. “The American people expect our leaders — both current and former — to present serious solutions to the very real challenges confronting our nation.”

The whole damn Repblican party (From ALL Presidents on down) needs to show ABSOLUTE OUTRAGE at this commment...

Thanks for the tip. I am fairly convinced that Hillary’s fifteen minutes is at 22 and counting. I’ll check out the link. I went to a fairly liberal site the other day, and saw the same thing. She’s not selling...

There is a clear black and a white in this stuff...a voter can either blast GWs foreign policy and go back to Madelyn Albright’s soft power or not...There is no in between (where the Clintons love to hide)

"Bill creeped out from underneath a rock to utter a classic Clinton whopper."

Did anyone hear the Toon's comment on childhood AIDS in Africa? He said the medicines are currently available to cure 95% of childhood AIDS. Even Charlie Roses said, "Really?" But, of course, there was no follow up.

I went over there, and it was rather unmerciful. Of course there were the occassional “Everyone should think for themselves and quit spouting Rush Limbaugh without thinking” posts. Those were rather comical.

The luster has come off the road apple.

I agree. And I would say that I do like some of what Bush has done, but a diplomat connecting with Europe and more importantly Russia, he hasn’t been. I am also gravely disappointed with his lack of perception at what China is up to.

Clinton would undoubtedly be worse.

By the end of 2008 we will have had 20 years of Clinton and Bush. Enough is enough.

SO true!

Read the book 'Compromised' by Terry Reed, it will shed some light on this Bush/Clinton tag team dynasty.

Hellooo -- everyone!

Did you read the first line?

"Former President Bill Clinton said "

Why would anyone here believe anything that Bill Clinton says?!

Why are people attacking GHW Bush based on Bill Clinton's statement?!

Show me a quote where GHW Bush said he will go abroad with Bill under Hillary's presidency, "to repair the image of the US"!

All -- stop and think!!!

Are you opposed to females'in office???? do we females'have to unite & wage war against CNN??? Delve into Obama's negative back ground & report on his for a CHANGE of scenery & TOPIC."

“You do realize that GHW Bush is friends with Bill, don’t you?”

Don’t be silly, No he isn’t.

At the request of GW Bush, GHW and Bill Clinton did some ads and traveled to show bi-partisan, united support to the tsunami victims and raise funds. That was all.

GHW had made statements to the effect that he was very upset because of the way the Dems have been bashing his son.

Both of the Clintons are criminals. But there is no longer any such thing as equal justice under the law in the country, especially when it comes to the ruling classes.

And we have no one to blame but ourselves.
