Huckabee closes in Florida (Giuliani's lead shrinks from 18% to 4%)

Huckabee continues to surge in Florida, according to a new poll conducted by Strategic Vision (R) to be released tomorrow. With a margin of error of +/- 5.5%, Giuliani and Huckabee are in close competition for first place with 25% and 21%, respectively. McCain comes in third with 15%, leaving Romney in fourth with 13%. Thompson has 10%, Paul has 4%, and Tancredo has 2%.

These results show a different story from the last Strategic Vision poll conducted in this state, Nov. 7 to 9. Huckabee was fifth in that poll with 9%, while Giuliani had 31%. McCain, Thompson and Romney were statistically tied for second with 13%, 13% and 12%, respectively.

On the Democratic side, Clinton retains her large lead in Florida with 48%, up one point from the previous Strategic Vision poll. Obama is up four points from last month to 31% and Edwards is down two points to 6%.

I like Romney’s chart, steadily increasing his support. Rudy is turning for the worse and Huck is a flash in the pan.

It is probably a bunch of dimocRats thinking that Huckabee is a repackaged Bill Clinton.

Huckabee may not be the answer, but Madame Rudy needs to go down.

And that is a cause for rejoicing!

Going from 14 to 17% isn't much to get excited about...

Willard is terrible candidate. He has bought 18,000 ads nationwide and outspent Huckabee 10-to-1 in Iowa and still isn't the front runner.

Look at the correlation between Giuliani and Thompson.

A mirror image.

I like Romney’s chart, steadily increasing his support. Rudy is turning for the worse and Huck is a flash in the pan.

Huckabee's artificial position in the polls serves a good purpose for Romney. It helps Romney keep expectations low in key states to pull off an "upset" on election day. If he was the major frontrunner and won in those states, it wouldn't be all that newsworthy. If he is the underdog who brings off a win despite Huckabee being ahead in the polls, then he gets even more news cycles and an even bigger wave to ride into Super-duper Tuesday. There's no way that Huckabee can withstand the withering campaign media blast that Romney is capable of pulling off days before the election. Huckabee lacks the money, organization, campaign wits, etc. to survive it. I wouldn't want to be in Huckabee HQ in Iowa any time in January. It's going to be ugly.

Wonder why the former mayor is NOT picking up on America’s disgust of how crude oil has doubled, a subprime crisis rose up, and labor has gone on strike since the party of Howard Dean regained Congress???????

These people who are always home to answer a stupid pollster on the phone must not know a THING about Thompson. The things that they THINK they know about Hustlerbee, Fred really has!

Yep, but he also keeps the pressure off of rootie, who remains the strong frontrunner with potential wins in 3 HUHG states to start, NY, CA and FL. That’s alot of delegates.

Someone needs to beat Rootie in FL and CA to end his candidacy

Anyone who thinks that these polls mean snot, or that Hucka is going to win Florida will be in for a very rude shock come the end of January.

Rasmussen has Rudy in third place.

Rudy is trending down there too.

The latest Rasmussen Reports polling in the state of Florida suggests that Giuliani might need to work on a “Plan B.’ Mike Huckabee now leads in the Sunshine State Primary with 27% of the vote. He is trailed closely by Romney at 23% and Giuliani at 19%. Fred Thompson is at 9% in the poll, John McCain at 6%, and Ron Paul at 4%. Tom Tancredo and Duncan Hunter each attract 1% and 8% are undecided.

My favorite part:

Romney now earns the highest favorable ratings among Florida’s Likely Primary Voters at 74%. That’s up five points since November and up eleven since September.

This campaign is quickly turning into an “anyone but Huckabee” election for me. I can stomach Giuliani, McCain, Romney over the Huckster, by far. At least they would have a chance in the general election...a Huckabee nomination guarantees a Hillary presidency. Why would people vote for “Clinton-Lite” (Huckabee) when they can get the real deal with Hillary.
