Former Georgia congresswoman Cynthia McKinney is on the political comeback trail again. This time, she's running for president.
In a speech posted on her campaign Web site, runcynthiarun.org, McKinney, 52, ended weeks of speculation and officially announced her run as a Green Party candidate. She sounded the theme "Come Home To The Green Party" while attacking both major parties as supporters of the war in Iraq and tools of corporate interests.
"The Democrats, no different than their Republican counterpart, eat out of the hands of corrupt lobbyists and feed at the same corporate trough," McKinney says in the video. "I am proud to say the Green Party is my new political home."
In recent weeks, McKinney has traveled to campaign rallies and fund-raisers in Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin trying to organize party support and get her name on state ballots. She said she plans to campaign in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Here’s your candidate ping.
Beat me to it!
"No buff-fly net fo me... Don't need no buff-fly net..."
I’d say Soros(Clinton) cash is going to her
Hillary will still get lots of black votes
But diluting the radical black extreme voters who might vote for Obama in the primaries is something Karl Rove would be seeing right now too
It’s a chess game - and McKinney and the Greens know she has no shot at all
But the Greens need a certain vote to qualify for the next elections
And McKinney will get huge bucks for this - somehow
You are better at figuring out the convolutions behind these games they play. If Dummy McKinney draws Black voters from Obama she could also draw them away from Hillary.
I hate to see that woman profit from this!! ‘moneywise’ or anyway else!
Remember when Carole Mostly Fraud jumped into the Presidential race? It was thought by somee that she was encouraged to do so by people trying to siphon off votes from Al Sharpton.
She’s running? LOL.
Jesse (Bribe me) Jackson for her running mate. Al (Tawana Brawley) Sharpton for Secretary of State!
Now there’s a Dem debate I’d tune in for.
This is actually bad news if the Greens make her the nominee. The Naderites were serious about electing Nader and many of them did vote for him instead of voting Dem. If McKinney is the nominee, most of the Naderites will vote Dem (particularly any Jewish ones) and only a small faction of blacks will vote Green (particularly if Obama is the Dem nominee). IOW, this kook is worth an extra 2-3% of votes in the Dem column nationally.
I don’t think it benefits Hillary in the primaries because any Dems that follow McKinney are still going to vote in the Dem primary first. It’s in the general election where McKinney will help the Dems by being her normal idiot self and forcing many environmentalists back into the Dem column.
FMCDH(BITS)
This is great news. I hope she can stay the course up until the election!
I don’t agree with you. There are LOTS of far left liberals who would vote for her.
Cynthia should also be syphoning off some of the chick vote. After all there are Republican women who say they’d vote for Hillary because it is time for ANY woman to be in charge at the White House.
Now that there is a second candidate with a womb in this race, let’s see them decide WHICH woman they will vote for.
The question is whether she can represent a viable alternative to a Dem party some lefties see as corrupt and sold out. Nader had an air of credibility to him (if you are a liberal). McKinney does not. Might I remind you that McKinney actually lost her seat in Congress once in the primaries. So even her district doesn’t particularly love her. Her comments, and those of her father that night, should drive away just about any Jews that might think of voting Green Party.
I see her doing more to discredit the Green Party than to improve it - which is bad news for us because a strong and viable Green Party siphons votes from the Dems. 2000 might have been a different story if Nader hadn’t run. Plenty of liberals believe that the same way many Republicans believe Perot cost them 1992.
Some candidates talk about getting help from netroots. McKinney can count on getting help from NUTroots.
