It wasnt quite Bob Dole circa 1988 quit lying about my record but in a Des Moines news conference Huckabee unloaded on Romneys attack ads.
(snip)
Im not gonna fight with him. Hes throwing punches and Im saying merry christmas.
Then Huckabee suggested that when the eventual nominee is selected he would like to be legitimately supportive. It was hard to not notice
he cast himself as an also ran.
Were gonna at some point have a nominee. Its gonna be one of us and the rest of us are all gonna be sort of forced to sort of stand on that stage with big smiles on our face and say this is just great with us
I dont want to do that with some disingenuous grin on my face, I wanna be able to say we had a good battle, the best man won, and now we are going to unite this party, were gonna keep the WH and bring America back to its best days.
Whoops!

Huckabee continues his snarky and sleazy utilization of Christmas for political purposes. For somebody who claims to be all holier-than-though, he seems awfully eager to hitch Jesus up to pull his bandwagon.
I think Cameron fundamentally misuderstands the implied threat in the last paragraph. Huckabee is threatening that if Romney does not back off, he will not be willing to back the nominee if it is not him.
More of the same. Huckabee is willing to use anyone, abuse anything, and hurt his party if that is what it takes to get ahead. So far it is working.

I want a President who will throw some punches. We NEED a President who will throw some punches, not roll over.

If a former preacher will use the cross as an advertising prop and then lie about it, what won't he lie about?
Sincerity is everything. If you can fake that, youve got it made.

Notice that he says he could be disingenuous (even though he wouldn’t like to)

It was an error to put the Iowa caucus so close to Christmas. Huckabee is shamelessly exploiting that error. An honorable man would not take advantage of the situation, as he has gleefully done.

But, do share, if you must.

Yeah, sure. If you believe this brilliantly conceived ad with the moving cross/shelf, (created by using a camera on a tracking dolly) was an "accident," then I've got a bridge in Brooklyn on sale just for you.

I havent been so conflicted in whom to root for since that Shia-Sunni thing... Like Henry K. famously said about the Iran/Iraq war, "It's a shame they can't both lose".

What? Is he like a Muslim, announcing he won’t fight on holy days while actually planting an IED on the road, with that threat of not supporting Romney if he becomes the nominee?

Though none of the Democrats would ever ask that question. You can bet the Republicans will bring it up, though...
