Hunter vs Fred....stupid argument at this point...

I said elsewhere...both John F’in Kerry and Slipn Fall Edwards were polling single digits in Iowa last time...they came in 1, 2....

Anything can happen with these pig farmers...which I belueve have more in common with Tennessee than KaliFORnia...just saying who’d be 1 and whi’d be 2...:)

You know what’s funny? I had to go shopping tonight. When I got back to the house, we had company. Nice guy, good friend, but a diehard Democrat. We talked politics for a few minutes and I mentioned Fred. His eyes lit up and he said he really likes him and he wants an I’m with Fred bumper sticker. I’m going to get him one. He said Fred is a born leader. Even Democrats recognize one when they see him.

I really believe Fred can gather the vote from the middle and crossover vote from more conservative registered Dems in numbers that no one else in the race can. It’s one of the reasons I’ve supported him from the beginning. We really need to nominate this man.

I've only seen one Fred bumper sticker in Austin, at Central Market (kinda like a Whole Foods) and it had to be a freeper.

I need a sticker, no, make that 20. I'm ready to push Fred if he makes an attempt to ascend.

That sounds exactly like what I heard from my in-laws, die-hard (relatively conservative) rust-belt union democrats (I posted this on another thread a while back).

I haven’t discussed politics with them since we got in a big argument back in the 90s over the Lewinsky saga. They have no idea whom I support. But out of the blue over dinner one night, my mom-in-law volunteered that she had seen Fred Thompson discussing Pakistan on Meet the Press, and she was thought he made a lot of sense. She then went on to discuss what he said about foreign policy in general — she was actually pretty enthusiastic. I couldn’t believe it. Without getting into my Thompson support, I quizzed my in-laws on the other candidates — here’s what they said:

Hillary ‘toon: it’s “time” for a woman president, but they don’t think she’s the right woman

Obama: they don’t know if they can trust him/he’s inexperienced

Giuliani: they wanted to like him because of 9/11, but as soon as he started pandering to the right (as they see it) when he’s always been so liberal, they got turned off.

Romney: they would never even consider him — not even an option they would think about.

(This was before the Huckabee spike, so I didn’t ask them about him)

I wish more dems had watched the Republican debates.

If only Fred will pick a VP that democrats can really get behind.....like who?

I would think it would have to be someone whom the GOP base loves, and can appeal to blue dog dems in the same way Thompson can.

Who that is, I have no idea. :)

I really don’t know. :) It seems as if the country is so split right now, everyone we love, the donks hate, and vice-versa.

So I guess the folks at politico have access to Fred’s financials?

I don’t know if they do or don’t, but Fred put out a video message today asking for contributions to help him in Iowa. An email I received around noon said he’d raised 50k and they wanted to reach 100k today.

I’ve contributed more and I hope others can, too. Say what you want about the RP supporters, but their forum is full of people who have sacrificed to send their man money. It would be a shame to lose a fine candidate like Fred because the cash ran out too soon.

I went to his website and bought my own! I also got a yard sign and a coffee mug!

Candidates always have to ask for money. Most of the others have been running since the elections were over, in 2006, so they had plenty stockpiled. Since Fred got in, he’s had to work hard for what he’s gotten. As soon as Fred is done in Iowa, he has to start running hard for South Carolina. I signed up to give a monthly donation a couple of months ago. I’ve never done that for any candidate before!

When Fred speaks, it’s like he’s on downers. He needs to be more like MR President and less like Mr Factoid. He’s got a powerful voice and excellect inflection, but he’s not using it to his full ability.

Does he want this or not? Facts are not enough in the world of politics.

Are you even paying attention?

The Fred I saw at the last two debates, the Fred I saw on Hannity and Colmes, the Fred I MET at a campaign even in Laguna Woods, and the Fred I listened to on Laura Ingram's show was and is and seems to be extremely animated and excited to be running for President.

Are you sure you don't have him confused with somebody else, like John McCain or Rudy, or even the Huckster?

Before you post, you might want to catch up on current events!

LOL. Your wiseacre question isn't meant to be dismissive of the report, is it?

Those are public filings, so, yes, they do.
