Thus it's not so unusal for a member of such an AF unit to be a former Marine. There is lots of cross enlistment when folks go from active to reserve.
The 419th no longer has any F-16s of it's own, as of June 28th, but rather is an "associate unit", flying and keeping 'em flying, with the active AF's 388th Fighter Wing.
Meanwhile, our "wise men" in Congress and the administration have cut the total size of the Air Force Reserve from 74,900 to 67,500. Right in the middle of war. Of course G.H.W Bush did the same thing.. although he was starting from the high levels of the Reagan years. I remember hearing of units being disestablished even as others were heading off to the Sandbox for Desert Shield/Storm. It's enough to gag a maggot.

Plenty volunteer to go to the war zone in my Wing too. I think it was General Omar Bradley that stated, courage is being able to do what is right when scared out of your wits.
