Really, McCain should run in the Democrat primary.
Not only would he clean up there, they could rerun the 2004 “ready for duty” schtick that Kerry had and it would work.

I think that is why McCain did okay in polls a year or so before the primary season. The samples didn’t separate people by party and a lot of Democrats said they liked McCain. His pandering to the Left was a miscalculation and he can’t blame Bush this time like he did after 2000.
