“In a letter to President Bush on Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid urged him “to make every effort to ensure” that the 23 million families who will benefit from AMT relief “receive their refund in a timely manner.”

It’s so funny how Reid and Pelosi think Bush runs the day-to-day of every governmental agency.

Pelosi and Reid are sick idiots.

They can’t take responsibility for anything.

It proves they are the liberals they are.

Liberalism is evil incarnate.

The same holds true for all those software companies that sell programs for your home computer. They should have guessed exactly how Nancy would cave and program accordingly.

But Pelosi and Reid said the IRS should have anticipated what Congress would end up doing.

That's like figuring what a squirrel on meth will do crossing the freeway.

As much as I dislike those two (Pelosi and Reid), Lott and the allegedly Republican majorities had several years to completely get rid of the AMT.

Now I dislike the Democrats quite a bit, but the GOP *HANDED* this issue to them to beat us over the head with.

But Pelosi and Reid said the IRS should have anticipated what Congress would end up doing.

This shows that neither of them have the slightest idea of what computer code is, how it is written, or what is involved in making sure it works. How was the IRS supposed to "anticipate" what Congress would do? The guess with the highest probablility would have been "nothing". Basically that's what happened. Nothing. Nothing except causing tax refunds to be late, while not actually fixing the real problem at all. Piss off the public, and blame it on Bush, when Bush had nothing to do with this failure of leadership. Reid and Pelosi are pathetic.

I have to agree with Lewis Black here....” Ya mean I can download 3000 vagina’s in less than a minute on my computer, but the IRS can’t get a check out on time?”

The IRS merely enforces the law as written by Congress. The suggestion that the IRS should have or could have substituted their judgment for that of the bicameral process prescribed by our Constitution is LUDICROUS.

The Communists should be run out of town on a rail for suggesting, indirectly, that our Constitution is a meaningless document.

That’s like saying the Pentagon should have been withdrawing the troops from Iraq right after the congressional elections based on ‘rat intentions.

But President Bush and many Republicans refused to go along tax increases, so the AMT fix will end up "costing" the government an estimated $50 million -- a violation of the Democrats' "pay-as-you-go" promise.

As I'm sure all of you know when the dems say its going to "cost the government $50 Million" it means the IRS is going to only make $200 million instead of $250 million....I'm sure the numbers are higher and the $50 million is less substantial but you get my point.

The Federal income tax code is in a meltdown and no amount of tinkering by implementing a short term , temporary band aid approach is going to solve the problem. This latest situation is more proof a fundamental change needs to occur by replacing the federal income tax code with a national sales tax. The Fair Tax Act(HR25/S1025) will solve this problem

No longer will the politicians be consumed with political posturing, no longer will taxpayers be at the mercy of incompetent and power hungry politicians to get back money that should never have been removed from their paychecks and no longer will IRS "protocols" matter. Fair Tax ping!

How about Rick Boucher? He is a common ordinary congress rat, but he had a hand in the process.

Heck with the IRS. How are Americans supposed to do appropriate tax planning when Congress changes the laws during the last few days of the year?

But Pelosi and Reid said the IRS should have anticipated what Congress would end up doing

This has got to surpass even their previously preposterous acts/statements.

So the IRS should just have gone ahead with all the reprogramming, etc, even not knowing what would happen - should have 'read the cards' -

A Karmack (sp) Moment.

I hope Rush and all have a blast with this one.

From now on, everyone should anticipate what Congress will/will not do whenever they may/may not get around to it.

Yep, that about covers the way these cretins do things. Great way to run the Nation's business.
