Then that is up to you to prove, a biased remark on your part is not proof. However, I could just as well have said Virginia inspection station.
Keep in mind that these Mexican trucks mentioned are the junker shuttle trucks operating only in the border zone. They don't plan on sending the junkers OTR.
Have you got anymore mis-info articles from World Nut Daily?
Here is another statement from the same meeting. You were cheering picking.
Only about 1 percent of Mexican trucks entering the United States are inspected by the United States at the border, but 36 percent of those that are inspected are turned back for serious safety violations, Sen. Dorgan says. Mexico does not have the same safety standards we have in the United States, he said as he introduced the bill. There are no minimum safety standards for trucks or equipment, no limit on the hours a driver can stay on the road, no drug testing. These trucks will put people on Americas highways at serious risk. The American people dont want to drive down the highway and find they are alongside a severely overloaded truck with someone in the driver seat who may have been on the road for 20 hours or more.
He is also contradicted by the fact that Mexico has been awarded a multi-billion judgement against the US, which they may, or may not, move to collect. And as the numerous posts on the tread show, there are many US trucking companies that have invested in Mexico in contemplation of cross border trucking. They also will easily win a judgement against the US.
Never have cared much for traders. Let'em eat cake!
I detest them, as well. : )
Well, if they’re going to play tit-for-tat, I guess it’s OK for us to adopt the same immigration laws that Mexico has, and enforce them to the same degree that Mexico does. Fair is fair.
I am sick and tired of hearing about how WE need to fix the Mexican economy (TME) . WE are not the problem. In fact
I don’t believe their economy needs fixing. Seems it is their gvmnt and social-system that needs fixing. No amount of groveling at the foot of Jorge or the Mex Consulate or Mex truckers or crop pickers or NAFTA etc etc , is going to fix any problem for anyone.
When the USA is broke and brokedown who will the
World Pirates plunder ??
You boys can pony up your tax dollars to pay off Mexico. I’m sure don’t mind since it goes to a worthy cause, the Teamsters.
There will always be Canada though :)
One thing about Canadian trucks is the fact that they meet or exceed our safety standards. They also obey our cabatage laws.
It will be a cold day before I kiss Mexico's rear like you seem to want to. I don't don't know any teamsters, but I damn sure know several drivers who I don't want to see bankrupt because some cheap ass executive wants to have 2.00 an hour labor.
the Union was against letting Mexican trash and unsafe (uninspected) trucks into the U.S.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
You, Ben are the friend of my enemy....guess what that makes you?
Look at it like a business deal gone bad. One party of the agreement broke the deal and is obligated to pay.
As for friends and enemies, let me point out that you are a friend of the Teamsters, Public Citizen, and Earth Justice.
Naw....you and your ilk are the enemy of this country and have aligned yourselves with other enemies of this country, that would include Mexico.
My guess is that any American trucking company that wanted to operate in Mexico would have to hire Mexicans to drive the trucks. The drivers would be in danger otherwise.
That’s the way this whole NAFTA deal works. It means Mexicans can come up here and work, and that our companies can go down there and employ Mexicans.
People like my mother are getting screwed just in time for retirement. She’s gone for 3 weeks at a time but getting about two weeks worth of paid miles. She went from around $67,000 in 04 to about $55,000 this year.
And they were making the case at one point that there was a shortage of trucks to move product in the US and that was one of their arguments for letting the Mexicans in. Having our trucks moving product in Mexico would only exacerbate the shortage of trucks on American roads so they will be attacking their own argument if they whine about US trucks not being able to enter Mexico.
It's only been a few years since they had to cut back on freeway stops for safety inspections because it was making the already scary traffic even worse. I do have to admit that I got out of the every day freeway crunch in the late eighties but I still see a pot load of mexican trucks and US trucks with mexican drivers when I have to go some distance...and they don't look a whole lot better.
I also have to wonder how come these same trucks are over a hundred miles above San Diego when there is supposed to be a twenty five mile limitation??
