HAMPTON, N.H. (AP) _ On a day when a new poll showed him trailing Sen. John McCain among New Hampshire Republicans, Rudy Giuliani managed to swipe at least one vote from the Arizona senator.
Betty Coughlin of Hampton said she was torn between McCain and Giuliani before hearing the former New York mayor speak in a crowded tavern Sunday afternoon. The main sticking point was Washington experience.
``Your ability to administrate has been proven above and beyond, but somebody like say, John McCain _ and I'm sorry to throw him at you _ he's been an insider in Washington and he knows the ropes and all that,'' she told Giuliani. ``If you become president, how do you deal with all that?''
``John would be a really good adviser,'' Giuliani said with a grin, then turned serious as he described McCain as a hero for whom he holds great respect. He told Coughlin that he knows his way around Washington well enough but still could offer a ``fresh spirit.''

I sure hope you are right. But he has name recognition that hundreds of millions of dollars cannot buy,,,,and there are still an incredible number of Republicans that have NO IDEA how LIBERAL he really is!!
While I'd love to see that, I wonder where his supporters go. There's really not another country-clubber Republican in the race, my guess is that half of them go to McPain, and half go to Romney, presuming either of them is in it by the time Rudy checks out.

Yes, this turd will circle the bowl for a little while before getting flushed away. The recent info about his gal pal now seems to have been the beginning of the end of his campaign. He’s gut shot now and shows no sign of coming back.

Rudy Giuliani is not a liberal. (Did you see the story this weekend that Mitt spoke out against Bush’s tax cuts, while criticizing McCain for voting against them?)
Furthermore, Rudy’s become more conservative over time.
You guys seem to be talking yourselves into a frenzy over him.
My biggest reason for supporting him is his ability to get control of bureaucracies. Here is a little quote by David Frum which describes the difficulties:

It will take more than declared “hostility” to terror to manage such bureaucracies effectively. It will take skill and cunning in the management of refractory government agencies. There is only one candidate in this race who has demonstrated that kind of skill, and it’s Rudy Giuliani. None of the other candidates, Republican or Democrat, ever have.
