Cook County as a whole last voted Republican in 1972 (but you knew that already). Even in '84 they vote for Mondale (although the then heavily Slavic/Polish 3rd district went for Reagan).

When I lived in Crook County, I had Bobby Rush, then Blago, then Jan Schakowsky (lived in three nabes). Was an election judge for the '98 election, where I saw firsthand the level of crossover Dem voting for Lyin' Ryan (he even won the 43rd and 44th wards in Chicago, and even got 35% in the 48th where I lived at the time).

And as we now know, Glenn Poshard turned out to be no gem, either. Man, who was the last respectable person of either major party to win or run for the IL Governorship ?
