I agree completely. I have been saying for years that every time a new law is passed, we lose more of our freedom.

The US Congress was originally a part-time thing - pass a budget & address REALLY big issues, then go home to a REAL job & answer to the people for the things done while in session. The same was true for state legislatures.

I believe the great flaw of our gov’t is this TOO EASY ability to continually amend & expand the laws of our country. Laws are based on morality (they should be, anyway!), & morality has not changed one bit since our country was founded. Murder, rape, theft, fraud, etc. are all exactly the same as they were 200+ years ago.

Sadly, “of the people, by the people, & for the people” is now “of the lawyers, by the lawyers, & for the lawyers”.

The result of all this over-legislating is a growing apathy to the law.

— have resulted in just hundreds of fines, leading county heath departments to say they plan to step up enforcement of the law.

Yep, it’s about health (sarc).

This is a good example of government out of control.

And the effectiveness of hysteria combined with media cooperation.

Since when is a Private club, a public place?

As soon as the NEA got control of government education.

I can’t wait to get out of this state of Ohio, and I never thought I’d say it.

Hate to tell you this, but there's no place left to go, unless you expatriate.

I have looked.

Thank you.

We're still fighting the good fight, and winning, in Virginia!

Merry Christmas!

Oh so he CAN still smoke cigars, I thought the way you were going on that smoking was totally banned.

Dear Ditter.

Your attempt at passive-aggressive but nonetheless rabid anti-smoking advocacy has been detected.

Three Holes to Solve Smoking Ban

Sorry FRiend. In Ohio, even outdoor smoking is against the law within (I think about) 50 feet of the establishment. There have also been disputes about whether a business can build a "shelter" at that 50 foot point. There was an argument that a shelters is technically part of the business and people would have to back up another 50 feet from that. I'm not sure how that dispute was resolved however.

HOME is the ONLY PLACE in this ENTIRE STATE where one can smoke. My apologies for not making that clear. Merry Christmas.

I don't believe this is true if you live in an apartment or townhome. My wife heard a story about a guy who was smoking in his apartment and received a complaint. He has to go stand across the street to smoke.
