Arizona Cops - Shameful and Disgusting (commentary)
Vanity

Posted on 12/24/2007 6:52:45 AM PST by Scythian

From this story on Fox news titled "Arizona Police Routinely Asking for Proof of Citizenship" the Arizona cops have now started asking for proof of Citizen ship BUT ONLY AFTER AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT MURDERD A POLICE OFFICER.

This shows the how corrupt they really are, no concern for the poor mother and children raped and murder, only if one of their little country club members gets it. What a freak shame, they are criminals too ...

Better than here in Los Angeles where they specifically are forbidden to ask...

I went to your link, but didn’t read anything about a mother and children being raped or the cops doing nothing about it. Must have missed that part. The story also stated that ICE didn’t have the manpower to respond until about a year ago.
Personally, I don’t care why the cops are rounding up illegals. Just that they are. I’m glad that their mayor, who really dictates police policy, is onboard with it, and illegals are getting rounded up.
I think that you’d bitch if you were hung with a new rope.

Yes, disgusting that it took an illegal murdering a cop to have the cops “get it”. So much for “To Protect And Serve.”

But as reprehensible as it is to see law enforcement turning a blind eye to the fundamental crime of an illegal’s presence within our borders until their own ox got gored, I’ll take it. Let’s just consider this as the scales falling from their eyes and hope for more of the same.

Why don’t you tell one of them that to their face? Tell them they are corrupt and don’t care about murdered and raped women and children. Merry Christmas...

Oh, so they had no idea illegals were doing these things and they are picking up illegals all the time and (were) not asking. Come on, America has not been served by law enforcement for at least a decade on this issue. I have family members who are policeman, so buzz off.

Any facts on what the official policy was on allowing the PD to check documentation proving legality prior to the murder of the police officer?

It would be helpful to have some factual evidence before we start maligning the PD, unless of course that is the intent.

The simple fact remains, only after a police officer was murdered did they take action, if you want me to dig up rapes and child molestation is AZ done by illegals then I’ll provide you with the links, surely you don’t doubt that I can?

Didn't AZ just start enforcing a recent, hardcore law regarding illegal's?

I assumed that asking about citizenship was the departments reaction to the new law.....that asking was now permitted and that the department was just waiting for that "permission".

The procedure was started Oct. 15, a result of the September killing of Phoenix police officer Nick Erfle by an illegal immigrant, Erik Jovani Martinez

Nuff said ... I guess all the other lives ruined by these guys was of no consequence ...

What? So you can get tazed? It would be like asking an Iraqi back in Saddam's day, to go and tell Saddam he thought he was unfair.

Not to mention we were constantly told by the governor that the state didn’t have money to pay police to round up illegals. I’m glad it’s starting at a lower level and going up.

By "these guys" I assume you are referring to the police.

I may remind you that policemen, much like you probably have to do in your line of work, take orders from the administrators.

Why do they always say that? Every time i see someone come here and blast law-enforcement, they always end it with that statement. Like thats suppose to give them some level of credibility.

Well, the credit certainly doesn’t go to Mayor Phil Gordon who until the outcry became threatening to his political future didn’t do jack squat. Sherriff Joe Arpaio is out there arresting illegals who have the gall to picket outside a furniture store while being here in our country illegally. We’ve allowed this “illegals have rights” idiocy to flourish because of the lack of enforcing our laws. The citizenry of America is getting FED UP - tired of them getting free health care, free education, free passes into our country while we have to pay taxes for their freebees. Press 1 for English is CRAP and I’m tired of listening to people in the stores speak in Spanish!

Yes, you are right on in that respect. Some years ago, as a state peace officer here in Texas, our State Atty General reminded us that we were NOT immigration officers, that we had no authority to enforce Federal immigration laws as a PRIMARY objective such as asking for proof of citizenship, etc., this was in the late 70s.

However, if we had probable cause of an offense having been committed or a minor violation, we were to pursue that and then if it was discovered that the person was an illegal alien (proper terminology of that time) after requiring ID or other proof of identification pursuant to the investigation of the offense at hand, we were to turn them over to INS after our charges were filed and cleared.

For several years, the official policy of Phoenix PD was to not get involved with the immigration status of anybody with which it came into contact ("Don't Ask"). This is not to say nobody ever got caught, just that the city PD would not help out. In Phoenix, anybody sent to the jail crossed into Shreiff Joe Arpaio's jurisdiction, and he checks everybody at intake. Phoenix isn't a "Sanctuary City," but it's darn near which is foolish being as close to the border as we are.

The Dem Mayor made a very public 180 after, I believe, the second LEO was killed by an illegal who had been in trouble before. The city of Mesa still doesn't get it, it's Chief of Police refuses to help in any way.

It is incorrect to malign the PD, unless they were pressuring the Mayor to keep his previous "hands-off" policy. It is, however, reasonable to ask why hundreds of civilians have been allowed to die and nothing happened in the way of policy change until a couple of LEOs got whacked.

Does that help?
