NORAD ^

Posted on 12/24/2007 7:59:28 AM PST by pillut48

We found this site a few years ago and my daughter still loves to watch NORAD track Santa's progress around the world on Christmas Eve! :-) Merry Christmas to those of you in the time zones where Christmas and Santa has already arrived! :-)

When my guys were little I'd show them this site plus when it got dark I'd load them up in their little red wagon and we'd go around the block looking up at the sky watching for Santa's sleigh.

They'd point at the running lights of airplanes and I'd say "no, that's not him".

After a bit, I'd find an airliner way up high and point and say "guys, I think that's him".

They'd get real excited and would urge me to hurry home so they could get to sleep before Santa got there. LOL!

Puter got zapped a couple of years ago tracking Santa. Maybe granddaughter went a little too deep into NORAD. :)

Rudolph’s nose must be something special. With all the technology we have today like radar, GPS, and laser guidance systems, the best way for Santa to deliver presents is still by following a red lightbulb!

This is great, thnaks so much for posting.
I just called NORAD with my 6yo to see when Santa would be over Texas. My sons eyes almost bugged out of his head as he listened to the call and heard the operator say Santa would be over TX between 9-12.
These people are really going to help us at bedtime...LOL!
What a fabulous service, kudos to NORAD for doing this for the kids.

My brother & his wife take turns being Rudolph - one watches the kids in the house while the other hops around the yard with a flashlight with red paper taped over the lens:

“Look kids! There’s Rudolph! Better hurry off to bed or Santa won’t stop!”

Hope he’s got dual transponders in that sleigh. I’d hate to see them lose track of him and the poor guy stumble into restricted airspace.

BTW, I am highly amused at the Santa tracking phone number:

(877) HI NORAD

I’ve never exactly pictured Cheyenne Mountain as the home of a friendly cheery “Hi!” before... :)

Have you ever called NORAD before outside of Christmas time?

Hello! Thank you for calling NORAD! Please listen carefully as our menu options have changed. Para instrucciones en espanol, oprima al nueve.

If you are calling because your hideout has exploded for no reason, press 1.

If you are calling to report black helicopters circling your laboratory, press 2.

If you are Chuck Norris or Kiefer Sutherland... For the last time, you guys are just actors! We won’t tell the President to call you!
