well, huh...that was unexpected. My son is considering an offer from his company to go CIO to COO, which would place him in Hong Kong and maybe Kuala Lampur for anywhere from 3 to 12 months.

I always wondered how that search engine stayed around with a name like that. At least they changed the logo. Actually, though, it is a good search site. Merry Christmas to you.

There's a search on "christmas" link on the Forum page, labeled "Merry Christmas".

Can we request a "Merry Christmas" greeting for the front page of our favorite website?

We'll see, if Jim or a mod replies.

As a webmaster myself (of other sites, of course), I'll say that how difficult it is can range from trivial to a major PITA, depending on how the site is implemented.

Soon to be the only search engine, thanks to Comrade Brin.

:P

Seriously though, this is just another indication that the powers that be in the PRC are quaking in their boots.

Christianity-well, if you consider Nestorianism Christianity-has existed in China for close to thirteen centuries, IIRC, whereas the CCP is a rather modern, unpleasant innovation.

If it comes down to the Christianity versus Marx I'm betting on the fish.

Gun Tso Sun Tan'Gung Haw Sun or Hsin Nien bing Chu Shen Tan to all my Christian friends in China!

In fairness to Google, I think all they ever do is color and decorate the word Google for whatever holiday.

I think they times they got criticized was when they failed to do so for a noted holiday. I forget if it was for Easter or the 4th of July or both.

The Google page doesn’t say Merry Christmas in so many words, but exactly what else would the decorations on the word mean? Seems like a Christmas greeting me.

Surely you have been following the debate over stores and others have an aversion to saying "Merry Christmas." Or perhaps I should just wish you a happy Sparkle Season.

Come on, there is a certain level of understanding of current events you are supposed to bring with you to this forum.

Oh give me a break, I’m well aware of it. And for the most part I think it’s a molehill. Please tell me what the Google logo could mean other than Merry Christmas? Please tell me about all the other holidays you would connect with candy canes that type of ribbon?

The point was that a Chinese website has not problem using the words Merry Christmas and an American company will not use those words.

He's also the head of state for a Christian country.

Russia marks Christmas with religious, secular celebrations

Putin has his flaws. Being a politically correct atheist is not one of them.

And do some more research; Hitler was closer to Asatru than anything else.

I really don't care what religion mr. putin professes; nor is it my place to say. what I observe of his leadership is dictatorial. dictatorship is antiChristian by axiom.

therefore it follows from my observation that his professed religion is merely that.

my observation could certainly be mistaken. But I wouldn't bet that way, and haven't for the past 5 + years.

Of course he could change course, and begin to show signs of being true servant of his people, and many hope he will.

Or perhaps we'll find out someday that he always has. But I think the facts (as I understand them) contradict that.
