Thanks for your kind words.
In many cases, it’s best to communiate such in writing . . . either before or after a face to face. One has to discern the other person well to know what’s the case.
Many folks are automatically super defensive face to face MORE so than reading something they can reflect on.
Others treat written communications as a cold distant slap in the face.
If one does written only, I’d start making abundantly clear that I’m writing vs a face to face in order for the person to have some thoughtful, prayerful time reflecting on what I’ve said BEFORE responding. It doesn’t always help but at least they have the idea and the opportunity to do that.
I think I’d also change this line to:
Mom, you can continue to be selfish, proud and stubborn in how you relate to us at timesespecially around gift givingand be remembered as selfish, proud, distant and stubborn. I doubt you really WANT to be remembered that way. But maybe you just haven’t learned any other way to be in relationship to us. But we can explore better ways to relate to each other together.
Thanks for your kind words.
As you can see . . . not everyone is . . .
on the same page . . . on this thread.
Sure as heck was a lot more positive than anything you’ve said. And I do agree Resurrection Sunday is important, but it does not occur at this time of the year.
I had no corn cobs, but you act as if you received a few more coal lumps than you were expecting.
May you have a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
Actually, I think there’s a time and context to do just that.
. . . and an age range . . .
And a time and age to be more candid.
Oh, my . . .
One of my UNfans. What a surprise.
Clearly . . . mileage may vary . . .
as well as capacities of comprehension, identification and empathy.
nmm, you said, ‘My younger daughter got me a pig in ice skates pin. I adore it. If my MIL got it for me, it would be the thing that took me over the edge ...’
Laugh out loud! You make a good point.
NO coal lumps. Two Christmas dinners and plenty of warmth and a nap. Doing OK.
But if my gifts to you are not desired or useful, I’m sure there’s a very big trash bin nearby.
Have a blessed New Year, yourself.
Actually, I was a bit mystified that anyone would construe any of my posts on this thread negatively.
Clearly . . . negative, like beauty . . . is in the eye of the beholder.
Evidently you are carrying hostilites
from ghosts of threads past?
Goodness. Life is too short.
Thank you, very much!
I’m one of those weird women, I don’t particularly like to shop, but when I do I try to get the biggest bang for my buck!
He loved his flashlights, and fishing tackle, and new work gloves, coasters, salsa, maple syrup, and talking beer openner!!!
VERY thoughtful. One year I bought everyone in my family a good large fire extinquisher (all metal nozzle, refillable, etc. from the fire supply store - not the kind you find at Wallmart) and a smoke detector. They all thought I was goofy but I didn’t care.
Don’t give yourself credit when none is due.
I sincerely doubt that any ever is though.
I also bet that most everybody else is skipping your posts too.
Now go eat a nickel and double your value to society.
I carry no hostility toward you, have no reason to do so.
I just find your sanctimonious attitude on this thread to be negative and off putting.
Not all of us feel a need to preach our Christianity at others on an internet forum.
talking beer openner!!!
I thought that I had married one but she turned out to be a teacher. Taught me to open my own ..........
You clearly haven’t a clue about me.
Thankfully, that disease is not an epidemic . . . though often, folks prefer to respond by FREEPMAIL.
I don’t really give THAT MUCH of a rip what folks who obviously don’t have a clue about me think of my person, personality or posts.
Some folks would not understand with pages of flow charts and a Master’s degree in “UNDERSTANDING.”
I write for those who find my writing beneficial, interesting, humorous, useful . . .
Evidently my writing is useful even to you . . . something else to throw rocks at.
Fascinating.
That’s your label and interpretation.
I didn’t realize the whole thread had voted you to be the author of the dictionary.
Not goofy at all.
Tomorrow I am picking up 2 fire extinguishers and 2 new smoke alarms -- where I'm getting them was already closed when I got there yesterday. I did replace the backup batteries in the CO2 detector yesterday.
We have a wood stove, all 3 things are absolute neccessities.
I thought that I had married one but she turned out to be a teacher. Taught me to open my own ..........
ROFL!!!!!!!!!
I actually have a walking and talking beer openner and carrier -- he just brought me one!!!!
Not all of us feel a need to preach our Christianity at others on an internet forum.
= = =
I am more than a little puzzled . . .
The original poster incorporated their Christian world view into their original post. Yet I’m preachy about Christianity.
Fascinating selective perception.
I’ve affirmed and supported the original poster repeatedly in several positive ways . . . yet that’s called negative in very harsh tersm.
Fascinating contradiction/selective perception.
