Survey of 800 Likely Voters; December 10-18, 2007
Seventy-four percent (74%) of Republican voters see Rudy Giuliani as politically moderate or liberal. Fifty-nine percent (59%) say the same about John McCain while 43% hold that view of Mitt Romney. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 41% now see Mike Huckabee as moderate or liberal and 39% see Fred Thompson in that manner.
For all the candidates except John McCain, those figures are higher than a month ago.
Huckabee has seen the biggest jump15 percentage points (41% now while a month ago 26% said he was moderate or liberal). Still, 43% view him a politically conservative (up five points from a month ago). While Republican voters are evenly divided on his ideology, Fred Thompson is the only candidate seen as more conservative...

I like a no nonsense to the point kinda' guy! : D
Merry Christmas to you and your loved one's Jim.
This indicates there is a lag time in these polls as I believe that with each passing day, Huck is perceived as more liberal and is losing support. This is what I see on the ground in Iowa.
Sheesh...
Let the good times roll. Why does it take being scared $h*tless to kickpeople back to conservative ideas, when those same ideas brought the good times to begin with...
Absolutely correct and Hunter has no chance. We must unite behind Fred before it's too late.
I do not believe this for one minute.
Alas, you are not here anymore.
That makes me sad, for I crave the entertainment of fools...
I wish for your speedy recovery, use aloe for the burns, Midol for the cramps, and like Fred Thompson, I will be here when you get back...
I don't know.
Fear and politics together don't fit well with me personally.
This isn’t true. As candidates begin dropping out, the support of undecideds go to the guy with the lowest unfavorable ratings, and that guy is Thompson.
Thompson is going to win this election. There’s not a doubt in my mind.
These guys don’t understand.. Fred hasn’t been considered a Top 3 guy anywhere by the press. The Big 4 that get the press are Huck, Myth, Julie, and CandyCane. Heck even Ron Paul gets more pub. Fred is an afterthought. If Fred beats out McCain in Iowa (McCain 4th), and McCain comes up short in New Hampshire where he seems to be putting alot of his eggs. McCain very well may be DONE (or atleast perceived to be done).
Huckabee is getting torched from all angles right now and his shroud is being lifted by all candidates. With Thompson stepping on the barnstorming pedal in Iowa, the majority of Huckabee collapse will goto him. Thompson will win South Carolin and carry all the momentum.
I laugh when people say, “he got in it too late” when that has been the ideal strategy all along. Nobody has won the Iowa Caucus on Christmas day, ask Dean and countless others who have crashed to earth in the final two weeks.
Fred Thompson is going to win this election, there’s not a doubt in my mind.
Wrong. They looked at the candidates objectively and determined quite accurate that..
A) Mitt Romney is a total fraud who changes his position to suit the political winds.
B) John McCain is a moderate that is alot of people are getting sick of seeing after 8 years of gobbling up facetime for the cameras of left-wing outfits.
C) Rudy Giuliani is too socially liberal for people to nominate.
It’s embarrassing that any Republican voter would want to support either of these 3 guys to become leader of the free world.
Huckabee came on when people didn’t know his record but that is now coming to light and I’ll predict he’ll fade.
Thinking Republicans on Free Republic gravitated towards Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter and Fred has the name-recognition to win it. (Sorry Duncan).
I can only laugh at crap like stuff like “FR fell into a sick cesspool of FRedhead groupthink several months ago.”
Which could accurately translated to “FR fell for the only true conservative candidate several months ago.”
and you have a problem with this. You are the one who needs to look at yourself!
You beat me to it :)
Not me either. But then again, we, and many of our fellows here, are the exceptions aren’t we...
Fred is viable and convicted as a conservative.
The alternatives are far from it.
Ahhh...closet liberals...ya gotta luv em.
These two have pushed their ‘liberal’ candidates so hard on here trying to convince people that ‘conservative’ is anything they call it.
I’ve never responded to either one because I recognized from the beginning, that they are a ‘win at all costs’ pair.
Conservatism be damned!
Although, I must admit, it was rather entertaining to read their posts and responses and just imagine in my mind the veins on their necks popping out so far that their heads were going to explode.
My bad...
:0)
Don't be concerned by lack of personal entertainment ejonesie22, there's plenty to go around. ; )
Merry Christmas my FRiend.
Ah, yes, there is always a Ron Paul thread that shows up just in the nick of time...
Yeah, I must admit I take some pleasure in sparing with them...
Oh well, I do agree with them on one thing. Mitt is a very bright shiny object...
LOL
Now that would be a step in the right direction to the freezing he!!. ; )
Great entertainment if one is into dancing the "Hokey poky". ; )
