Carry_Okie did, many times right here on FR!!! Many of us cheered him on when he said it, too!!!

Unfortunately, there were way too many fearful FReepers who were too sore afraid of Dems Bustamante and Angelides to join us in supporting a real fiscally conservative Republican named Tom McClintock.

So now we sit here in a destitute, debt ridden state on Christmas 2007. Thanks a lot you frightened, flinchin FReepers... Thanks a lot and, well... Merry Christmas to you too!!!

Just like the national race for pres. Too afraid to support a conservative for fear of losing the moderates.

Debt ridden, yes, but hardly destitute.

There are plenty of bucks still to be squeezed from residents.

I’m not a California voter, but my money was on Bill Simon. He came within a few percent of winning, and would have done so if Bush and Rove and that jerk Parsky whom they put in to run the California party had supported him.

Maybe McClintock would have won, too. Hard to say. At the time I was not keen on Arnold, because of his rotten stance on abortion and perversion, but he’s a lot worse on the fiscal side than I expected, I must admit.

As it is, I think most of the blame goes to the party pros, who tried to impose Riordan on California and then succeeded in imposing Arnold—which has been lose-lose ever since, for the pros as well as the people.
