SOMERSET, Pa. -- Police said a Somerset man draped a live snake around his 2-year-old son's neck, fed him hot sauce, and otherwise abused him for nearly a year.
Jason Flick, 27, is charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children and related charges. He was arrested Friday and taken to the Somerset County Jail on $25,000 bond.

It takes them three paragraphs to get to the meat of the story.
Its the SKULL FRACTURE and BROKEN LEG that were the trigger for removing the child.
It takes them til paragraph 6 to inform us that the police thought the injuries were life threatening - enough so that the kid was flown from one hospital to another.
What do the reporters lead with?
A live snake - but they don’t even bother to tell us what kind of snake... garter or boa constrictor !!!

How about - He’s accused of fracturing the child’s skull and breaking his leg !!!

It’s pretty sad that the unsourced reporter doesn’t understand the basics of journalism.
Even worse that the editor doesn’t either.
But consider the source, a TV station.

If I may correct your spelling, please. It’s not spelled Dad, it’s spelled “Dad” (in scare quotes) or “Sperm Donor”. This POS is no one’s Dad.

The reporter was correct in his reporting - the snake and hot sauce tell us the father was evil. This was not a lowlife hitting a child and breaking a leg, it was a monster who got off on torturing an innocent. The “father” should be put to death.
