Lauxmont owners file lawsuit (EMINENT DOMAIN PRESSURE ALLEGED TO HAVE CAUSED SUICIDE)
York Daily Record ^ | 12/24/07 | Tom Joyce

The owners of Lauxmont Farms in Lower Windsor Township filed a lawsuit against York County Monday, claiming that the county commissioners efforts to take their land by eminent domain for a park caused them financial problems.

But the lawsuit goes beyond that, alleging a wide-ranging conspiracy...

According to the allegations, the members of the conspiracy wanted to get the Kohrs' land for considerably less-than-market value, motivated in part by personal dislike, and conducted a prolonged harrassment campaign against the family that eventually drove their mother to suicide.

"They're out millions of dollars," the Kohr's lawyer John Snyder, said in a phone interview. "They lost their mother in the process, which they believe, and I concur with them, was a result of this process. They've lost time and opportunity and buyers, and they've had their civil rights trampled upon.".....

The lawsuit cites York County and the board of commissioners as defendants. It states that the Kohrs are seeking damages but doesn't give a specific amount.

It mentions everyone from Lower Windsor Township officials to U.S. Rep. Todd Platts, R-York County, as playing a role in the plot to get the land. The lawsuit states that Platts attempted to contact the IRS on behalf of the alleged plotters, in an effort to get the IRS to force the land's sale......

the lawsuit contains the following statement about Laura Kohr, matriarch of the family. "....Laura became increasingly disraught about the constant attack on her, her home and her family and finally committed suicide on May 20, 2005."

County coroner Barry Bloss has ruled that heart failure, not suicide, caused Laura's death......

Snyder declined to be more specific about the circumstances of the alleged suicide. He would only say that she did it in a "nonviolent" manner that wouldn't be inconsistent with heart failure.....

A whole generation of York County political leaders involved in this eminent domain fiasco, mostly GOP sadly.

E-mails have been placed online detailing the early efforts to take the land with numerous public officials named. Mark Platts, brother of our Congressman Todd Platts (R-19th District PA) was the brainchild of this scheme to build a "heritage park" on the Kohr family land.

http://www.landgrab.org/

Also some of our leading citizens like the richest ones and the Chamber of Commerce head were out in support of the scheme.

A RINO commissioner (Mitrick) and even a Democrat one (Kilgore) were booted out in last spring's primary elections over this.

Its a sad mess.

We the taxpayers picking this up because of our political and business leaders folly and or greed. Some business people would have benefitted from building a "heritage park" on the land within sight of an existing state park.

The farm owners were hurt badly by this being unable to sell land to pay their back taxes they were hounded by the local politicos to give up their land at a low-ball price.

They also allege the suicide of their mother over the matter.

Have we become a nation of sheep who allow ourselves to be led without questioning? It would appear so.

Why do we think everything should be politically correct? Our rights are slowly but surely being taken away from us.

The right to own a gun in Washington, D.C. is now illegal. It has one of the highest crime rates in the country. Obviously that law is not working.

Our kids are not allowed to pray in school.

We have allowed our government to take away our property in the name of eminent domain.

We seem to be losing control over what our children are being taught in our public schools.

Since virtually everybody cited in this newspiece has a German origin name, I doubt that the "Heritage" to be celebrated in this propoed "Heritage Park" has anything to do with the original settlers and founders of York County, the former Sa'ami coonists from New Sweden (in Delaware, New Jersey, Lancaster County, PA and Maryland).

The guys pursuing this taking are the descendants of the very people the early Scandinavian settlers had fled in Lancaster County.

Before this fraudulent misuse of government power progresses further, someone needs to consult several early American historical specialists.

Your points illustrate that contrary to common opinion, our judiciary long ago ceased to protect us from the naturally power hungry legislative and executive branches. The so-called system of checks and balances is a myth.

Once elected, power being the drug, the beast needs to protect it self.

He (Todd Platts) opposed any version of Bush’s school voucher proposal, opposed offshore oil drilling, supported increasing governmentally regulated fuel efficiency standards for automobiles, voted for the Matthew Shepard Act a hate crimes prevention bill, and supported the McCain-Feingold campaign finance legislation.

Get ready TEXAS, the largest eminent domain land seizure is about to get underway as the Nafta superhighway or Trans-Texas corridor as it known here in Texas gets underway.

The globalist elite in government are bound and determined to push this superhighway down our throats.

There are huge swaths of land just west of Houston that are up for sale as people in the path of the TTC are seeking to get outta of the way and get the pay before their land is seized through eminent domain, bringing them what the gubbamint is willing to pay.

In many cases, this GWB/Gov.Rick Perry plan would split ranches and farms that have been in families for generations, causing the real property values to plummet.

Yeah Council on Foreign Relations.....way to go.

You must be a Ron Paul Supporter.

Your idea would require a government organization that was forward looking, secretive and had a high caliber of people working for it.
Looking at Social Security, State Dept, Education Dept, etc, where is the competence? It may make for a good movie in Hollywood but I work in this bureaucracy and I laugh every time someone infers it is a competent finely tuned organization.

No, I’m not a die hard Paul supporter. I am still looking at each candidates platform.

I do not call a candidate a nut just because others call him a nut. I like to think I study the candidates stances closely to see which candidate aligns closely with my views.

I like the thought of less government power, I like the thought of spending cuts..not higher taxes. I like the thought of protecting American workers against corporate greed in the form of hyper-globalism.

Sorry, don’t mean to burst a bubble for ya.

Their objective in this exercise is to supposedly honor the “native Americans” who lived along the river before settlers moved in to spoil the area.

The Kelo decision: “Steal from the poor. Give to the rich.”

Hardly Robin Hood. Far better describes the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham.
