Economics considers several criterion for making decisions. One is to “minimize regret.” Think of each candidate. Four years from now, looking back, you might regret your role in making him the nominee, or making him the President.

If your guy, gives Hillary the Presidency, that would be something to regret. (I am thinking Ron Paul, Huckabee, perhaps Giuliani). If your guy became President but proves more liberal than you imagined, that would be something to regret. (I am thinking Giuliani and perhaps Romney).

Perhaps the way to minimize regret is with Thompson or Hunter. Both are conservative and neither is out of the mainstream. Hunter lacks name recognition and money but that might all change if he catches on. Thompson can compete, win, and not prove an embarrassment to conservatives.

The presidential nomination excites the passions. But the real key to making things better is to elect conservatives to the House and Senate.

Freds a nice guy, but he lacks charisma and energy and cannot win.

Oh, if only he were a rock guitarist or a "go-go girl" perhaps he would be presidential material. eh?

I still say Fred is the best of the top tier (Hunter is the best overall). He’s got the consistent mainstream conservative creds. He’s not a social lib like Rudy. Nor an economic and national security lefty like Huckleberry. And he’s never flip flopped like Romney.

But...

He just seems like he’s in 1st gear on the stump (I’ve seen it firsthand in NH).

Pick it up Fred. Pick it up.

Seeing as how he won the last debate hands down, he doesn’t need to.

Yeah, I want someone who is trying to make up for his father’s humiliating defeat when running for the president since he was a sperm instead, like Mitt.

Mitt’s dad, if you recall, came out against the Vietnam war while running as a liberal Republican for president — repleat with a “Dean Scream” momement where he crashed and burned in a matter of hours.

I just gave a contribution to Fred. I have before only once and it was to W in 2000. I don’t have much, but if we all give something we will keep him going!

I for one won’t compromise my values in order to vote for “someone that can win.” Mitt Romney is a flip flopper. Huckabee is a the Republican version of Jimmy Carter. Rooty Toot is just...a closet liberal. McCain also takes a number of liberal positions like Huckabee-mainly on immigration. I’m voting on conservative principles and the guy is Fred Thompson.

I wish Fred would do a commercial that informs people about what he’s done besides playing Arthur Branch, because a lot of people are that clueless. Many don’t know his background, education, career; they don’t know his political credentials.

The media won’t do that job for him.

Folks don’t vote for plans, Fred! For sure not when they’re looking for a President.

Latest video: Crunch Time In Iowa
http://fredfile.fred08.com/blog/2007/video-crunch-time-in-iowa/

And from NumbersUSA as of December 21:
“Now that Rep. Tom Tancredo has dropped out of the race, only two candidates (THOMPSON & HUNTER) are left who have vigorous and thorough enough opposition to amnesty to warrant an EXCELLENT rating.”

GO FRED! :)

Let me amend that. The folks who DO vote for plans, are already on board.

the National Right to Life Committee endorsed him, because they know he can win.

Not because of his staunch 100% pro-life record and his determination to see abortion outlawed throughout the land?

Freds a nice guy, but he lacks charisma and energy

You forgot the fire in the belly, and that his heart really isn't in it to win. /sarcasm

Fred should have a good week this week, and we should expect the % results to be quite different than what the polls are showing today. I'm not saying he's won Iowa, but I'm willing to lay money down that he'll poll higher than the <6% that some polls are showing right now.
