For a minister to seek unity with secularists when they are trashing and rewriting scripture with impunity is to side with vice and to allow darkness to succeed. On these kinds of issues, the minister cannot group hug or sing a James Blunt song to the secularist or the apostate Christian.
Amen, Amen, Amen.....again I say Amen.
Other recent article by Doug Giles...God and Glocks: Why Churches Should Not be Gun Free Zones
Right on! The churches need to get a backbone or die to the evil that is culturally taking over the earth. As it right now it is sticking up a thumb to stop the flood about to decimate a city. Of course in many places is already decimation.
On one hand is this liberal claptrap:
And on the other:
I just turned 60 and have been reading since age 5. In 55 years of reading, this is the best article I have seen. Plenty of home truth in this one.
I know of Baptist ministers here in the south who get all weepy-eyed about slavery (which has thankfully been abolished in America since the 1860’s) but won’t say one damned word about the daily holocaust of abortion.
OTOH, maybe many ministers believe they are called to help people with their spiritual lives, and they don’t believe we win culture wars by using politics.
Hard for me to accept, given my interest in politics, but I’m not sure God cares what unbelievers watch on TV. If I were a pastor, I’d emphasize how to live a Christian life & follow Christ - not conservative politics.
I don’t know about this. There seems to be plenty jumping up for illegal aliens.

Exactly. I don’t care who gets their knickers in a knot about it, it’s time for Christians to get MORE loud and forceful about standing up for right. I’ve said it once if I’ve said a hundred time, William Wilberforce by himself did more for human life and dignity than has the entirety of the atheist/agnostic/freethinker cadre since the Renaissance.
Reason 11- Because sometimes it comes back to bite them, hard. A Pastor at a church I used to attend would give sermons on the problems of teenage sex (usually blaming poor parental guidance). All well and good until his 18-year-old daughter went away to college and came home 3 months later having to announce that she was pregnant.
I likey the money too.

In this poll Hunter is up 3% and even with Paul and Thompson.

They are stupid and greedy and have no education or convictions and have to please everybody while making a wild race to the trough for the parishioners funds?
Oh, please.

fyi - I retired from ministry this year
There may be too many pastors who don’t address the culture war. My pastor isn’t among them.
Kinda off-topic: Our pastor said from the pulpit a week and a half ago that people would be foolish to come to our church with bad intentions (I live in Colorado Springs, don’t go to New Life Church, BTW). He said with a wink that “there’s a lot of hardware in this room, if you know what I mean.” I suspect our pastor has a concealed weapons permit, as do many in the congregation. :-)
Maybe I’m wrong, but, in view of his eschatology in number four, I’d say the author of this piece is not Premillennial, but is an Amillennialist, perhaps of the Preterist variety, or a Postmillennialist.
My pastor takes a stand on culture war issues, he preaches on it often. Yet, he does this while being a Premillennialist. He is Post-tribulational, however. A big distinction.
On the other points, the author’s criticism is right on, but on number four he needs to be more specific. He has a bone to pick with the pretribulation rapturists, obviously. But all Premillennialists are not the Pretrib variety.
