Photo of Benazir Bhutto standing through sunroof moments before being shot

Here is a link to a photo showing Benazir Bhutto moments before she was shot. (Videos on CNN show that her Toyota Land Cruiser had an armored interior. Had she remained fully within that armored protection, she likely would still be alive.) Here's what actually happened:

After the large political rally, she is shown getting into the SUV with several other people. The SUV and a black vehicle its left then drive about 50 yards, where a crowd surrounded her vehicle. She decided to stand up through the sunroof to greet the crowd. However, one or more assassins were in that crowd that stopped her vehicle as it was driving away from the rally. That's when she was shot.

This is a Getty Images photo, so I can only post a link: Photo of Bhutto just before her assassination

There are four pages of other Getty Images available of the assassination events. Here's a link: Link to Getty Images assassination photos. Warning: Some of the photos are very graphic.

As is often the case with breaking news stories, initial reports that Benazir Bhutto was shot while she was getting into or exiting her vehicle were incorrect. I'm posting these links so FReepers can have an accurate understanding of the assassination events.

Seems like a pretty foolish thing to do, but such is the nature of history.

Why is the standard Islamic reaction to anything bad always to riot, set things on fire, or blow them up? “Al-Qaeda killed Bhutto! Quick, Ahmed, let us go burn a city bus!” Huh?

I blame it on the religious demonic Islamic teachings.

One might ask why the standard response to winning a professional sports championship is to riot and burn things.

Emotional people react without thinking. It cuts across class, religious, political, and economic lines.

That type of reaction is associated with lower levels of intelligence.

As we’ve seen here on more than one occasion....

Agreed. It was foolish.

What I find most interesting, though, is that she had just left a huge rally. The assassin(s) didn't try to get her there. Instead, as her vehicle was driving away, it was stopped by a crowd. The assassin(s) was in that crowd. The logical conclusion is that the assassination plot was to stop the vehicle as it was driving away. My next question is this: was there more than one way for her vehicle to leave the rally location. If the answer is yes, then how did the assassin(s) know the route she was scheduled to take?

They probably had assassins along all the routes.

Together with shadowy figures on the grassy knoll.

If you go a few pages into the Getty Bhutto photos, you’ll find a couple of shots of Hillary! campaigning — apparently so you don’t miss the point that she’s a brave woman, too.

I wonder if the media will ever tire of being used as cheap Clinton shills.

You asked — “If the answer is yes, then how did the assassin(s) know the route she was scheduled to take?”

It could be much simpler than you are making it. If this was planned out, then one would simply have several bombers at each place that it was possible to leave. Then one of them would have the opportunity. You would never know that the others were there, because they would leave and not blow themselves up, at the success of the one that Bhutto did come across.

It doesn’t have to be a more complex operation than just that....

Same thing happens in our inner cities. It is connected to being uncivilized.

You said — “Together with shadowy figures on the grassy knoll.”

Well, I was just looking at a DVD series (produced by a major TV Network) on the Kennedy assassination and the figure[s] on the grassy knoll was backed up by direct witness testimony by people right there, and also a witness seeing one man take a rifle-like weapon from that guy and break it down and carry it off (across the railroad bridge), in a bag.

I would say that there’s no doubt that there was another figure, there, firing the fatal shot and making a clean get-away. There were, at least, three eye-witness accounts to this figure, who was there.

But, this is off the topic of this latest assassination, aside from the fact that things are not always as complex as one may think it has to be (to kill someone).

No more foolish than JFK's decision to forgo the bullet proof bubble top in Dallas, but such is the nature of history...

Perhaps they're imitating Americans that do the same when winning sports championships ;-)

Well, I have no doubt that there are elements in that segment of government that would definitely have Bhutto killed, if they could — but to say that it was government policy or that they were instructed to do so, as part of (even) secret government policy — I think is a wrong assessment.

It’s apparent that the political opposition to Musharaff is going to use this type of thinking to bolster their political aims, whether it’s true or not. They’re already doing that from the news reports that I hear.

However, it’s also clear that al Qaida has an interest in killing Bhutto (and also killing Musharaff, for that matter) — and that group is your most likely candidate, especially since they are claiming responsibility for killing Bhutto.

As did the Serbs, and Princip got the brass ring. The crowds in the streets, and Bhutto's willingness to be overly visible made this all to easy.

Seeing that her father and two brothers were all fatalities of Pak politics, it's almost as if she expected it.

No shortage of suspects when an uppity woman is killed in a muslim country.
