National Poll: Hillary and Huckabee in the Lead
PoliGazette ^ | December 27, 2007 | Michael van der Galien

Posted on 12/27/2007 1:25:41 PM PST by Kurt Evans

The latest Rasmussen Reports poll shows that Governor Mike Huckabee is now the most popular Republican candidate (among likely Republican primary voters) nationally, while Senator Hillary Clinton continues to lead among Democrats ...

20% of Republican primary voters say they support Huckabee, against 18% who say Rudy Giuliani and 14% who say John McCain. Mitt Romney is in fourth place nationally with 13%. Fred Thompson completes the top five with 11%...

Also good news for Romney? Why yes, the gap with the most popular Republican - now Huckabee - is decreasing constantly. Not only that, the difference between himself and McCain can be ignored: they’re practically tied. And the gap with Giuliani has become so small, only 5% now, that he should be able to close it once he wins one or two states that hold their primaries early in the season...

As said, the poll is also great news for Huckabee, for two reasons:

1. He has left Giuliani behind and is now the national frontrunner

2. It shows that support for him has solidified. I read on some blogs that people believe that Huckabee will fall way back (to where he came from). I don’t believe that for one second. This poll confirms my hunch: Republican voters have had all the time they need to look at his record. A very big part of American conservatives have done so, and they like what they see. There’s no way that Huckabee will fall way back, especially not if he does well in Iowa. And don’t forget: if he wins in Iowa, he could also do well in South Carolina and some polls have him in the lead in Florida at this point in time as well.

Conservatives ought to at least agree that a New Hampshire victory for Senator McCain would be very bad for our common cause.

National polls are quite volatile at this stage on the Republican side, Huckabee’s lead here is not such a big deal.

These polls are all over the map on every single candidate. The polls become the news on almost every MSM channel. I don’t believe any of them, whether my candidate is up or down. The MSM wants to shape and mold the electorate to settle for the candidates the MSM has chosen for us. Huckelberry? The most popular Republican? He has become the butt of every joke in every political arena.

People who make their choices by what the newest polls say are idiots. The United States of America is better than this. Iowa and New Hampshire no longer represent America as to their choice for President. The MSM wants you to believe your candidate does not have a chance if they don’t like them or that special circle around every candidate does not dance to their tune.

Today it’s McClame they are touting as he stands in front of a town hall type meeting and states “I am the most experienced and I am the most prepared to be President from day one.” FRED THOMPSON got about a 5 second sound bite! It wasn’t about him at all, it was about the seriousness of the War on Terror.

YO....IOWA....OPEN YOUR EYES WIDE AND CHOOSE WISELY!

FRED THOMPSON - NATIONAL SECURITY EXPERT (I’ll protect the American people and American values, whatever it takes to stop the Islamic-Fascists including water-boarding) - 2ND AMENDMENT ADVOCATE (arming the People to disarm criminals) – INCREASE THE MILITARY’S STRENGTH AND SIZE (giving those brave men and women a Commander in Chief to be proud of) - SECURE AND SEAL THE BORDERS (don’t give sanctuary anywhere to illegal’s, don’t employ illegal’s, don’t rent to illegal’s, don’t extend credit to illegal’s, don’t give illegal’s rights they don’t deserve, report all crimes committed by illegal’s and deport those illegal’s who have already committed crimes against America) - LAW AND ORDER (enforcement first and foremost with laws currently on the books) – DENY FEDERAL DOLLARS TO SANCTUARY CITIES (enough is enough) – CONSERVATIVE JUSTICES FOR SUPREMES (those who will interpret the law, not create rights that do not exist) – PRO-LIFE ADVOCATE (nominate superior Constitutional Justices to overturn Roe vs Wade) - SOCIAL SECURITY REFORMER (reform a broken program that can’t sustain itself and will bankrupt future generations, with the added benefit of private savings accounts) - DEFEAT ANY DEMOCRAT AND RINO (any fool DemocRATS put up) – TAX SIMPLIFICATION (variety of choice for the tax payer) - WON’T PUT UP WITH CRAP FROM THE MSM (including stupid questions by moderators and pundits) - “WE THE PEOPLE” CANDIDATE (We the People asked him to run and he stepped up) - PING!

“So...are these the 2 candidates the Main Stream Media mongols have chosen for us and we get to vote?”

Most liberal journalists seem to favor Giuliani. The party’s power axis is behind Senator McCain. And if conservatives can just keep our eye on the ball, we’re on the verge of extinguishing them both.

Actually, they can’t kiss Huck’s rear enough—he’d be sure to lose and they know it.

I would love the sound of an H “bombing” (in the polls.) Preferrably, both of them.

The bio of the 23-yo author from his site:

Michael van der Galiën: Founder and Editor-in-Chief Michael van der Galiën is the founder and Editor-in-Chief. He is a 23-year-old former law, now American Studies student at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in the Netherlands, where he was a member of the board of the Criminal Justice Student Organization called Simon van der Aa and he wrote for a studentmagazine about religion, politics and culture called Intensief Magazine. In January 2006, Michael founded the blog Liberty and Justice. Because of his love for the U.S, it was quite logical for him to write about international politics with a special focus on the U.S. In June 2006 he became a co-blogger and later (after quitting his own blog due to lack of time) assistant editor at The Moderate Voice. He resigned from that post in September 07.

Moderate cheers Huckabee-that makes sense out of this piece. This is pure speculation wrapped up as informed insight. It isn't.

Huckabee has surged because he won a couple of debates and he’s got evangelical support. If a quick rise can happen to the liberal pro-life evangelical Huckster, it can happen to the conservative pro-life evangelical Hunter.

According to Intrade, the winner of the December 12th GOP debate was... Duncan Hunter.
