The Star-Ledger Volunteers arrive Dec. 19 at the Wharton home under construction for Jim Benoit, a soldier who was injured in Iraq. Wounded veteran Jim Benoit was officially handed the keys to a new Wharton home Thursday, capping a year-plus long effort that enlisted hundreds of volunteers, help from 70 local companies and hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations to build it for him.
Benoit and his wife Pam are preparing to move out of a cramped trailer at nearby Picatinny Arsenal into the two-story, wheelchair-accessible, 2,400 square-foot Colonial in January. Benoit joined the Army out of high school, had served a month in Afghanistan and was on his second tour of duty in Iraq when an explosive device detonated under the Humvee he was driving, nearly killing him.

I remember when one of them was deployed back when it all began in Iraq..it was a guy from Texas. Anyway, while he was over there his house burned down and there was an effort to get materials for the builder who was going to put up the house for his family while he was away.
I had contacted this builder and told him that I had got ahold of my wood buyer from LP and that the wood buyer had contacted the mill down in Texas to see if they could supply the materials.
Never did find out how that all went.
Stories like this make ya feel good, unless you’re a liberal.
..shame, you should do a few seaches and find out..*smiles*
Man! I HATE it when there’s no pictures!!! What a GREAT story!
That’s wonderful. Now for the rest of the returning vets - - - .
