Mena, Arkansas - is this why the Bushes and Clintons protect each other? (L.D. Brown book)

CROSSFIRE: Witness in the Clinton Investigation

NOTE: Several years ago, I helped L.D. Brown with a book tour in Southern California. He was there to see the whole sordid mess of the Clintons and was trooper bodyguard for Bill for six years. L.D. never saw Bill use cocaine, because he would never put up with that in his presence. But he knew Bill used it. Some have wondered why George Bush has not pursued the crimes of the Clintons. I believe it goes back to the days of Mena, Arkansas, where large shipments of cocaine were being delivered by Barry Seal.

“The plane would later be serviced and financed by Southern Air Transport, a CIA front company.”

I knew someone in Nashville, Tennessee who was associated with these guys. He wanted me to volunteer to fly down to Guatemala to bring “relief” supplies to some villagers but I couldn't’t square taking a month off from work. Who knew.

Very nice summary.

I watched the BB videos earlier in the day. Hard to miss at that range.

And a happy New Year to you. Sorry you are in pain. See a doctor, DrDeb. It certainly is a good thing I don’t have to report to you before I write something.

There is a volume of work out there about bad things done by our government. Much of it was probably done by rogue agents. I hoped to have a reasonable discussion that might lead us to discover why there is such a cozy relationship between the Bushes and Clintons. It is much more than being in the former presidents’ club.

We have only scratched the surface. Okay, I’ll put the burden on you. How could Sandy Berger get a mere slap on the wrist and no jail time for stealing and destroying classified documents? He stole part of our history.

How is it that the Republican-controlled Congress allowed over 100 pages of Clinton IRS and Justice Department abuses to be redacted in the Barrett Report?

Noel Hillman is the one who let Berger off the hook and is the one who had David Rosen prosectued instead of Hillary and Andrew Grossman for the greatest campaign finance fraud ever. What was his reward? He was appointed as a federal judge. I think we should ask why that happened without being challenged about our sanity.

Washington may be as dirty and corrupt as it has ever been in the history of this great republic. I would just like to more about the truth. I’d like the place to get a fresh overhaul.

People in the federal government knew that a massive amount of cocaine was being dropped into Mena. I really would like to know who knew. It seems pretty clear that the corrupt governor of Arkansas knew and he benefitted from him. He snorted the stuff.

As much as anyone in this country, I welcomed the collapse of the Evil Empire. But I would like to know the cost we paid to cause that collapse.

Thanks Doug for bringing all this back to the forefront, I have been very disturbed also as to the reason that Clinton’s crimes were never punished, the truth about the bombing of the Murrah Building, Sandy Berger, Able Danger, etc....the Barrett report would be very interesting!

I tend to believe as do you, that any involvement by Bush was because of patriotism and the necessity of defeating communism. To what extent he was directly involved, I do not know. We do, however, know how Clinton benefitted. And this may be why, other than impeachment, he always has gotten a free pass. And from impeachment, documents are locked away in the Ford Building for another 40 years.

When L.D. came to Los Angeles for his book tour, I tried to arrange a meeting with Maxine Waters. She refused. She did not want to hear about Bill Clinton’s involvement.

I’ve suspected that Mena is the key to some seemingly inexplicable Bush antics over the years - and likely the reason that Clinton became president in the first place.

Just rogue agents who skimmed off millions of dollars? Seal started in Louisiana and was even too corrupt for that state. He moved his operation to Arkansas with an even more corrupt political machine and a governor who had designs on the White House. Seal didn’t just make a few runs. How can it be explained that it went on for a considerable period of time?

“He paid them bribes to get favors needed for his business.”
My father was in a business that bid on gov’t contracts and when, as a kid, I saw the cash changing hands as “Christmas gifts, etc.,” and questioned my dad as to the local Congressman being a crook, my dad said, “Yes, but he’s OUR crook.”

Remember it takes two to dance. One is no better than the other.

Be well.

we were incredibly naive to think Bush 41 ever had a chance in that race.

IIRC, Bush 1 did not even start to campaign until after the Republican National Convention. It seemed to me that he didn't really want to be Pres again until he realized that all of his friends and supporters would be out of a job. By then, combined with the Perot factor, it was too late.

The DBM was really terrible then too. I remember a double page spread in either Time or Newsweek which had Clinton on one page dressed in athletic clothes and Bush 1 on the other dressed in a white sparkly Elvis outfit with a guitar. WHAT!!! Bush 1 was an outstanding college athlete and Clinton was a pudgy doughboy. The DBM had lots of power even then.

That's the way ALL federal contracts are awarded. Everybody that bids on a contract pays a bribe and gives a kickback, or no deal. It's been that way since WWII that I know about. We've had generations of crooked politicians, and contractors who don't ante up, don't work for our gov't.

Don't believe me? Than, you're naive, or not in a position to know anything about how the work is awarded. It took my father a lot of lost bids until the Congressman had someone who worked for him tell him how business was conducted and what it would cost.
