Poll: Romney regains lead in Iowa

Republican Mitt Romney has regained his lead over Mike Huckabee in Iowa, according to a new poll released Saturday — the first Hawkeye State survey in over a month to show the former Massachusetts governor in the No. 1 spot there.

According to the American Research Group poll, Romney leads Huckabee among likely Republican caucus goers by 9 percentage points, 32 percent to 23 percent. That represents a significant gain for Romney from a similar survey last week in which he registered 21 percent — then 2 points behind Huckabee. John McCain is the only other Republican to register double digits in the new poll at 11 percent. Other recent GOP surveys have shown Huckabee in the lead.

In what seems to be more bad news for Huckabee, the poll suggests his support is the softest of any leading Republican — only 60 percent of his supporters say they will definitely choose him on caucus night. That compares to 85 percent for Romney, and 93 percent for McCain.

With a thread titled, “Mitt Romney Down For The Count?” further down the page I can tell this is going to be a fun political year!

Wow, ARG. They’re a really reliable polling outfit. This is great news for Mitt!

It’s kind of funny.

All of the Fred Heads are over there and holding on for dear life!

Meanwhile, the Romney comeback stories keep coming in...

True, a lot of people can stay home, doesn't really need them.

I am hoping for either Hunter or Thompson win even though it looks now that Mitt will carry Iowa.

The surge enjoyed by Huckabee sucked support away from Fred. It would be interesting to see who gets Huckabee’s support once he slips away from among the frontrunner candidates.

My prediction:

Romney vs The Beast in November. Canckles nasty temper is exposed in the debates, with Mitt coaxing it out of her ....

Canckles Rodhog then loses in the biggest landslide since Reagan vs Mondale.

Not to question CNN's objectivity, (sarcasm) but here is Real Clear Politics latest poll average:
RCP Average	12/20 - 12/28
Huckabee Romney	Thompson McCain	Giuliani Paul	Spread
30.5	28.5	10.8	10.3	6.5	4.8	Huckabee +2.0

Mike shouldn't have insisted on taking a break from campaigning and go pheasant hunting with his camera crew.

Apparently it gave the impression that he's old, disinterested and lazy. ; )

I’m a Fred Head, and not holding on to dear life. I don’t believe any poll at this point, but acknowledged Fred as a bit of a long shot on the same night I donated to him.

I prefer Fred because I trust him more to do what he says, and I think he has a better grip on foreign affairs. If need be, I can vote for Mitt. I will NOT vote for McCain, Huckabee or Paul even in a general election.

Still hoping Fred pulls out a victory, or strong second-place showing!

Good prediction-

I used to be a MA resident.

In the debates, he made Shannon O’Brien look like a fool.

Sir -

THAT is a great post!

I disagree, but you add to the discussion.

I wish I could be as disciplined.

I salute you.
