He breaks the law by his very presence. He hustles to do hard work many Americans won't, at least not at the low wages he accepts. The American consumer economy depends on him. America as we have known it for generations may not survive him.
We can't seem to live with him and his family, and if we can live without him, nobody's figured out how. He's the Illegal Immigrant, and he's the 2007 Dallas Morning News Texan of the Year – for better or for worse. Given the public mood, there seems to be little middle ground in debate over illegal immigrants. Spectacular fights over their presence broke out across Texas this year, adding to the national pressure cooker as only Texas can.
To their champions, illegal immigrants are decent, hardworking people who, like generations of European immigrants before them, just want to do better for their families and who contribute to America's prosperity. They must endure hatred and abuse by those of us who want the benefits of cheap labor but not the presence of illegal immigrants.

I say the Texans of the Year should be the Stupid American citizens who have to pay the Benefits package for these arrogant law breakers.

No one has yet convinced me why we need the people who come here to from other countries to be illegal. I'll accept twice the current number of legal AND illegal immigrants coming to this country IF we do it legally, orderly, and with some though to what is best for this country. I'll take 50,000 Ugandans, 50,000 Ukrainians, 50,000 Thais, 50,000 Japanese, etc. I balk at 1,000,000 Hispanics per year because the sheer number of them permits them to avoid assimilating. Failure to assimilate will result in this country becoming like the hell-hole they are fleeing...
Lets save some of that resolve to stop voting for corrupt D.C. insiders that will not put an immediate stop to this lawless, violent invasion of our country.
the reworked child labor laws of 1964 are the answer to the riddle................labor basically outlawed letting kids and children work.....simple deal......and the democrats did it.............it’s all in black and white for those to read.........I lived it.

I have continued to read your publication to get insight for the “other side” of the news. (And sports). IMO, your inaccurate reporting and failure to report important news (or report it in a 2 line story buried on page 34) is consistent with the pandering that is common with modern day media.
But you have gone too far.
The TOY are a group of law breakers?? That is too much for me.
Dallas is a large enough city to support TWO newspapers, as it once did. Competition is a healthy thing.

The day the DMN took over the Times-Herald was a very black day indeed. That, and the day they decided to desegregate aka bus kids from one side of town to another and not allow them to attend their high school a mere 3 houses down the street. Any wonder why so many families left Big D never to return. It’s a nasty shade of blue on the political maps.

It seems the DMN has already granted amnesty and accepted them as citizens.
The DMN just spit in the face of every American; especially those American law enforcement who put their lives on the line every day fighting the war on drugs and illegal alien gangs.
