Thor Heyerdahl, another Norwegian, served as a Commando in WWII. There is a story where, surrounded by German SS, he climbed outside thru a chimney and shot his way out. The Kon Tiki thing made a lot more sense after I found out about his war exploits.
Norway remembers. They are having construction of 5 new Fridtjof Nansen class Aegis frigates - one named Thor Heyerdahl (F314). Expected commissioning is 2009.
