Huckabee Fights Back
MSNBC ^ | 12/29/2007 | Andy Merten and Adam Aigner-Treworgy

Responding to dual attack ads released by the Romney campaign yesterday, which targeted Huckabee in Iowa and McCain in New Hampshire, the former Arkansas governor today defended not only his own honor, but that of the Arizona senator’s.

“It’s not the most pleasant position to be in,” Huckabee said about the Romney ad that hits his record on spending, immigration, and sentence commutations for inmates. And using the matter-of-fact wit that has helped endear him to Iowans, he continued: “If I believe even half the stuff that’s in those ads, I probably wouldn’t even vote for myself, much less expect you to.”

But he didn’t stop there. As he did yesterday, he defended McCain from a twin attack ad that was released in New Hampshire. “Look, John McCain is a rival in the presidential race, but John McCain is an honorable, decent,

Mike Huckabee towers over his opponents in defending John McCain. This is a class act beyond the call of duty.

Mike Huckabee is the candidate because he is so honest and has a great leadership style to him. I truly believe that he has a genuine heart and a great head on his shoulders. Go Mike Go!

I agree. I think that his decision to remain “positive” in his ads may hurt him, but I find his defense of another candidate quite refreshing in modern politics.

GO MIKE GO!

Yeah, sincerity means a lot. When you can learn to fake it as well as the Huckster, you have it made.

I believe about half of that stuff, so there goes my vote Mike.

Mike Huckabee has lied repeatedly.

Most recently, on Today, he claimed he had corrected himself in mid-word when offering “apologies” to Pakistan. I’ve seen the video. His version of reality never happened. He lied again on national TV.

The linked article says Huck is defending himself, but just says that Huck says that Romney is wrong. Does not make any specific points about the issues.

McCain deserves our respect for his service, and Huck for his sincere faith, but these things do not guarantee that either would be a good POTUS.

Huck and McCain are both for amnesty. That may be one reason Huck was not more specific in his so-called “defense.”

I just hope Hucky knows that we got guns too, unlike those three dead birds he killed. (sarcs)

Get off this religious bull and find out he is worse than the Clinton’s. He is a compulsive liar, a fraud and worse, he is a POS.

LOL!! First he has to kill off Romney, before he has to worry about McCain. Frankly, tho, I dont see where Huckleberry goes after Iowa. But it'll be fun while it lasts, I guess.

Huck getting propped up by MSNBC,...is it possible that he could slip below Paul in my “least likely candidate” survey?

His support will come in primarily the midwest and southern states, places where the “values voters” vote in large numbers during a Republican primary. First test is South Carolina to see if he has legs out of Iowa, whether he places first or second.

Oh, Pakistan has to get rid of Martial Law - well, HELLO? They got rid of it 2 WEEKS ago. Granted it will probably be brought back, unbeknowst to Chucklebee. What a POS.

you have to be joking?!

He comes across as a slick cheep tent vagabond preacher the way Romney comes across as a slick business man.

Huckabee is just carpetbagger slick.

He has nannystate views and just jumped into thompson’s spotlight due to thompson’s federalism screwup.

Huckabee supports new government entitlements and a FEDERAL SALES TAX of 30%!

This is not a news report just on MSNBC, it was the first story I found on Google when I typed in his name at the time.

Who do you support?

Huckabee supports new government entitlements and a FEDERAL SALES TAX of 30%!

Which will replace the IRS and all the income taxes such as Medicare and SS and FICA etc. Then all people (even illegals, hookers, supposed single moms on welfare etc.) will pay into the system instead of taxing only the rich. Neil Boortz supports this type of fair tax. It would actually save us billions on beurocracy, tax preparers, enforcement etc. It would help small businesses and every day people to have all of their check. Education would be tax exempt. That includes private eduaction.

I believe the fair tax that Boortz is supporting is 23%.
