Some of you are going to wonder, like I did, if there was a missile associated with it. Kind of bizarre for something around 90 feet long not to be reported by the ship that lost it....

Not really. “Washed overboard. Presumed sunk.”

It has flanges for mounting it vertically? Is that a valve in the center? hmmmmmmm.....

I suspect a bit of sensationalism as I find it interesting that no photos are included of the other end.

Yeah - my first thought was this thing was made to be mounted vertically. Probably going to turn out to be something simple and industrial related, and like 1rudeboy, it washed over and was probably presumed lost (obviously it’s lightweight - a good storm with a lot of wind could have taken something that lightweight and with such a large surface mass right off of a ship).

Looks like the bottom is toward us. Clicked on the link, but didn’t see any of the other end.
Could have come from a rig instead of a ship. Looks in too good of shape to be something washed away by Katrina.

Looks like something a sub would have attached to the upper hull to covertly transport equipment.

LOL! Time for Paul and Kookinich to return.

It does not appear to be made of pot metal and recycled Jeep tyres. :-)

I’m probably not supposed to say this but that is an ion discharge nozzle. Not from a sub, but an orbital vehicle.
