This is from the above "explanation" from the Huckabee site, that started this thread. He actually campaigned and initiated raising taxes -- he is admitting it, this is not a "Club for Growth smear". He obviously thinks that the solution to everything is more taxes. The state should live within its means, prioritize its needs, instead of raising taxes.

I think that he believes that some taxes at the state level are OK, if voted for by the public. Here in OH, people vote for property tax levys (why i don’t know) to support schools, fire departments and the like all the time.

The difference is, that Gov. Huckabee believes these are state issues, not federal. As such, the federal taxes collected are more than enough to meet that need, which is why he supported the Bush tax cuts and wants to do away with federal income taxes altogether and put in the fair tax.
