With all respect due to the veterans, I doubt that that' true.
More likely, the veterans are 'crushed' because nothing will be done. What would lift the veterans spirits would be the freedom to track down whoever did this and extract justice from them.
You'd see 100,000 veterans converge on the site, the perps brought to justice (of the vets choosing) and this crap would never happpen again.
