ORLANDO, Fla. -- Some of the coldest weather in years is expected to move into Central Florida to begin the New Year, according to Local 6 meteorologist Larry Mowry.
"This could be one of the coldest stretches of weather we've seen in about four years by the first part of 2008," Mowry said.
Mowry said a cold front will drop temperatures by Tuesday.
"But, the coldest of the air arrives on Wednesday," Mowry said. "It is into Wednesday night into Thursday morning when a freeze is possible."
Temperatures could drop into the mid 20s in northern Central Florida counties.
There is a 40 percent chance of rain on Tuesday with a low reaching 47 degrees.
"The winds will really begin to pick up Tuesday night," Mowry said. "And it is going to be cold and windy on Wednesday and Thursday."

An Inconvenient Forecast
So much for global warming. Here in the mid-Atlantic region the December average temperature has been nine degrees colder than last year. We’ve had snow on the ground the entire month.
I hope Al Gore is down there and freezes his balls off!
Another data point that’ll be tossed when calculating the average global temp to declare 2008 as “The Hottest Year Ever!!”
So far this has been one of the warmest winters in recent times in Florida.
This is why I don’t understand why global warming is so bad. I’d rather have 1 degree increase over a century than cold snaps that kill off orange groves. Like those that we got in the ‘70s.

That darn George Bush and the Republicans in Congress! This is obviously a plot by Karl Rove to alter the weather patterns to take the focus off of Al Gore and the indisputable global warming “facts.”
