Not to mention he was married when he started his relationship with his current wife. (who I feel sorry for—she has to walk behind him)

Mitt Romney is irritated!

"BETTENDORF, Iowa - Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, facing some hints of an anti-Mormon whisper campaign, said Sunday he's irritated but not overly concerned about such "personal" attacks as he makes his final pitch to voters in the early states.

Such attacks, especially those focused on his faith in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, could hamper his ability to win the GOP nomination.

Romney, however, said Sunday that dirty politics such as an anti-Mormon Christmas card mailed to South Carolina voters are "part of the political process" by some groups or individuals who want to muddy the water"

Convenient timing...for Romney to "defend his faith" and flash the victim card just before the caucus.

McCain was a liar, a hypocrite, ... and a jerk, there has been little evidence to prove it.

There was no gutting...McCain suffered a self-inflicted wound.

Hey don't get me wrong, I'm not defending McQueeg, merely making a semantic point.

I take it I'm not the only one who's noticed the pattern? Romney says something stupid or gets nailed by a competitor for some flip-flop. Within a few days, some "anti-Mormon" something or other floods out, ostensibly from another campaign. Then, Romney gets to have plenty of on-camera facetime to play the Mormon card, pretend to be a victim, and try to milk as many sympathy votes as he can.

Another convenient timing concidence with the Christmas card is the motivation it will most likely provide to get the mormons in Iowa to turn out for the caucus.

This whole campaign is Clintonesque.

Let's see. There was McCain/Feingold, McCain/Kennedy, pro amnesty, gang of 12, anti-tax cuts, etc, etc. What more evidence does anyone need?

THANK YOU!!!!!

A few more tidbits about McCain:

1) Graduated 99.5% percentile of his 1958 Annapolis class (fifth from the bottom). Was not tossed out because his dad and granddad were both Navy admirals. Fellow classmates describe McCain as a party animal.

2) Got into flight school because of his family legacy and destroyed 5 US aircraft making him a Viet Cong ace.

3) Rumored to have collaborated with his captors in the “Hanoi Hilton”.

4) Turned on his fellow POWs when he helped kill any attempt to look for POWs still being held in Vietnam.

5) Cheated on his first wife while she was in the hospital after a serious car accident and then later married the woman he was having an affair with.

“Probably the same group that was behind the Christmas Card. Have you notice how both incidences were really design to bolster Romney?”

Wouldn’t surprise me at all, yes I think Romney would do these things.

His clean persona is a carefully cultivated image.

And we might want to add (from an earlier thread today):

...collaborated with John Edwards and Ted Kennedy on a patients’ bill of rights; with Schumer on more widespread sale of generic prescription drugs; with Ernest Hollings to put federal employees in charge of airport security...

Don't we all LOVE the TSA he brought us?

Along with John Kerry, he sponsored legislation to raise automobile emissions standards, and he paired with Joe Lieberman to try to force Bush to reduce greenhouse gases in compliance with the Kyoto accord. Also with Lieberman, McCain has proposed forcing people who buy firearms at gun shows to undergo background checks–closing the “gun-show loophole”...

I am shocked! Dirty tricks from Team Romney? Say it ain’t so. You think they would make a fake web site about Fred Thompson or something if they were really wanting to play dirty...

It is interesting that Mitt has not fired Thompkins yet, he was the man behind “PhoneyFred”. The fact Mitt has kept him around speaks volumes about “Mister Clean”.

Dirty pool is one thing, but this is a whole other ballgame.

I am just glad we are not going to have to deal with Mitt in the long run.

Mormons Back Romney -- in Iowa

"The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints says it has more than 22,500 members in Iowa in 68 congregations. Joseph Cheney, the president of one of seven "stakes," or geographical groups within the church, estimates that as many as 7,000 Mormons are likely to show up on caucus night, and that nearly three-quarters of the Mormons in the state support Mr. Romney.

That isn't enough to compete with the 500,000 Iowa evangelicals, or about a quarter of the voting-adult population, according to the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life. But in a tight race, the Iowa Mormon vote could give Mr. Romney an edge.

-SNIP-

Few say they are supporting Mr. Romney because of his faith but rather cite his emphasis on the family or other conservative values. They ramble off a bullet-point resume and reveal the connection with their faith only when asked.

-SNIP-

Mr. Romney isn't actively courting members of his faith. He doesn't seem to have to."

“The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints says it has more than 22,500 members in Iowa in 68 congregations.”

They are extremely organized and hardworking.
This is the backbone of Romney’s organization here in Iowa and other states. I saw it first at the Iowa Straw Poll.

If a candidate like Duncan Hunter had this type of organization, he would be at 70% right now.

Amazing how Huckabee is dissed for his religion, but Romney has all of this behind him, and it’s not mentioned.

7000 x 75% = 5,250 tops. Hitlery has that many presstitudes following her around.

...can back that accusation up with any evidence that isn’t of the self-serving, guilt by association, wholly dishonest circumstantial variety.

You mean like the "evidence" you used to slander Fred Thompson?

I guess Romney wants to keep a lid on this news so America won’t know the truth.
