Open your bookmarks and you should see ‘export’ and save them to an easy to find folder or your desktop. Then open FF and do the reverse, ‘import.’
On a Windows install, FF will ask if you want to import your IE bookmarks but I don’t know if it looks for other Mozilla installs and asks or not.

Wow, I remember having Mosaic running circa 1993-4 under X windows. I’m pretty sure it was invented for the same reason everything else was - to make finding porn easier and faster.

And when the Beast had taken the quarter of the Earth under its rule, a quarter hundred Birds of Sulfur flew from the Depths. The birds crossed hundreds of mountain views and found twenty four wise men who came from the stars. And then it began, the believers dared to listen. Then, they took their pens and dared to create. Finally, they dared to share their deed with the whole of mankind. Spreading words of freedom and breaking the chains, the birds brought deliverance to everyone. from The Book of Mozilla, 11:1

I’ve been a Netscape guy since about 1995, and I still am. I love the programmable link buttons at the top: one click and I’m at whichever of my favorite sites I want. No drop-down menu necessary.

Netscape was the first browser I used. It was good, even when IE was struggling.
But, around version 4.7 or so, it was phoning home consistently and frequently. That created allot of slowdown because I was on dial-up. It also had some problems with websites specifically developed for IE. I finally dropped it for IE.

One of these days, I have to get around to downloading Firefox. There's a painless and potentially lip-smacking happy New Year's resolution for you.

My main browser is SAFARI. FIREFOX is my backup. Used NETSCAPE years ago though.

I never really cared for IE, but when I started FReeping and viewing similar websites, I ran across a modified version called Fastbrowser (no longer being developed or supported). I liked Fastbrowser because it was one of the first to have 'tabs' and it incorporated MS Agent, which allows the computer 'voice' to read to the user. That is nice on lengthy articles and user's will old eyes. Fastbrowser uses the IE engine and some of the IE plug-ins.
I still use Fastbrowser for FR and similar websites and use Firefox for most other browsing.

Firefox is nice & easy — I’ve been using Firefox for years and only use IE on sites that require it when I’m forced to.

Netscape 9 is Firefox with a Netscape theme. Just download Firefox from mozilla.com.If you add the Netstripe theme to Firefox, you'll have Firefox looking like Netscape. It's the closet you get to having Netscape 9.0.0.x without actually having it.

Any learning curve, or is it just self-explanatory . . .
Firefox has a learing curve, but it is not that difficult.
The advantage to Firefox is that, after the basic browser, you can build your own. Firefox has extensions/plug-ins that add to its capabilities. Just be cautious that the more extensions you add, the more of a slowdown you may experience. They range from fancy neato toys to very practical and useful tools.
I have about a dozen extensions installed with mine. Some of them sure make life online much easier.

Firefox is a stand alone browser.
It should automatically import your bookmarks from Netscape. If it doesn’t, ping me back, and I’ll dig out an old copy of Netscape and walk you through the process.
Or, if you are in the mood for adventure, try SeaMonkey. It’s the complete suite to replace Mozilla. http://www.seamonkey-project.org/
Once you download Firefox, I recommend that you download a couple of plug ins - Cookiesafe and Flashblock will make your browsing safer and more enjoyable.

Any learning curve, or is it just self-explanatory .What IE calls 'favorites' Firefox calls 'Bookmarks'. That's pretty much all you need to know for a smooth transition.
