Rep. King questions Huckabee move; Thompson said he had a nice laugh By Sam Youngman | Posted: 12/31/07 6:27 PM [ET] December 31, 2007
URBANDALE, Iowa Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), who is supporting former Sen. Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.), questioned former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabees motives in showing a negative ad to reporters after telling them that he would not put it on the air.
King suggested to The Hill that Huckabees plan was to get a lot of play for the ad without having to pay for it.
Doesnt he have any money? King said, laughing. Thats what Id have to do if I didnt have any money.
Huckabee drew laughter from a room full of reporters when he told them that he was going to show the ad he had just said he wasnt going to run.
The former governor said the ad cost $30,000 to make. It was a spothighly critical of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romneys (R) record as governor.
King joined Thompson Monday afternoon at his campaign headquarters here, where the former senator stopped by to thank volunteers and supporters who were burning up the phone lines trying to reach undecided voters.
Thompson was asked about Huckabees unusual move, and he responded that he had been told about it on his campaign bus but that he knew little about it.
We all had a nice laugh, Thompson said. Hes on his own. I cant help him.
He added: Youre going to have to decipher that one for me later.
The Huckabee press conference turned out to be the big news event on a very cold New Years Eve just three days out from the caucuses.

I hope McPain stops Romney in NH. McPain will then be stopped in SC again .
How is Fred looking in SC ?
This reminds me of the time Bill called all the reporters to say how incensed he was that they fotog’ed him dancing on the beach with The Lizard Queen. And, as everyone with an IQ over room temperature already knew, the press conference was a staged event only to call attention to another staged event.
It's like he's saying: Look at these dirty pictures I found of Mitt. I decided not to use them in the campaign.
You see conservative in Huckabee? He's pro-life liberal.
That was great, I hadn’t seen that show for years. It reminds me of a lot of the negative Fred posters. I loved it, thanks for posting it.
The Huckster is a Klintoon clone disguised as a conservative
And this is the guy the Huckster hired to do his PR?
So I guess using a cross in a political ad and then lying about it is about par for the course.
“We all had a nice laugh, Thompson said. Hes on his own. I cant help him.
LOL!
Exactly what I was thinking. Huck is very Clintonesque.
