Fix medicare.

Make rich people pay more for medicare than poor people “The Warren Buffet’s of the world need to pay more of their own way”.

I agree, but I know some Fred Thompson supporters might be upset at that because they get really upset at what they call “class warfare” if a candidate says different wage earners should be treated differently.

Now discussing our dependence on oil.

You can’t win Iowa if you come out against ethanol, regardless of how stupid ethanol really is.

Question about unwed mothers who get government help, and how that is annoying.

Thompson: Don’t reward things we shouldn’t be rewarding, don’t encourage things we shouldn’t be encouraging.

yep. But suggesting that ethanol is a real part of the solution is right up there with some of the dumb things Huck has been saying :)

Fred's not a bad guy.

I saw this guy last night, and imo he needs a new public speaking coach. It’s not easy getting past his awkardness and on to the content of what he is saying, which is good.

Now saying ethanol is “certainly a part of the solution”. yeah right.

I share your sentiment.

But a lot of voters live in corn country and they like to hear that ... . . .
. . . and maybe he really believes it.

Well we hope he really believes it don’t we? We wouldn’t want to vote for a guy who is just telling people what they want to hear. Lying to them would we?

They just said Fox is cutting the next debate down to 5 candidates:

Huckabee, Romney, Thompson, Giuliani, McCain.

That’s not going to make the Hunter people happy, or I suppose the Ron Paul people.

Especially since in New Hampshire some polls put Paul in the top 5.

Don’t think that he overstated its importance if you put everything he said in context...

Thank you!

I only caught the last 5 minutes, but I saw him dodge a bullet with the unwed mothers question: “don’t reward the things we don’t approve of.”

(One of those hair splitting questions. Do we support abortion if the Feds don’t support the baby and the mother after birth? or education? Allow the States to limit abortion and starve the Feds - or put them on a strict diet - and let the families, churches and if necessary, the communities support them. And in what order and does the impetus come from top down or from the States?)

I think I’ll be tempted to cry for joy if Fred pulls out a 2nd place (or better) showing...although as a guy, I don’t believe in crying!

Dear Fred...Please save my children from the selfish, boomer, hippie, drug-induced-demented Republicans handing the country over to leftists so they can have a cushy retirement at our expense.

Thanks for listening.

This morning on Fox & Friends they had the little girl on who tried to ask Chelsea Clinton a question to no avail. The little girl did say that Fred Thompson talked to her and said he would answer any questions she wanted to ask. No other candidates mentioned. GO FRED! The man we need in the White House!

So why didn't he just tell the guy the truth. It costs to much to make ethanol. It doesn't make economic sense. It isn't really a part of a solution to our dependence on foriegn oil. Why not just tell him the truth? The guy even asked him again after he explained all of the issues and he says "it's certainly a part of the solution".

Look, I understand the requirements on a politican to get elected. My dad was a politician for 10 years. I'm just saying that some of us give Fred a free ride. We can name any number of other candidates that if they were telling some guy that ethanol was part of the solution to our dependency on middle east oil... we'll the posters here would be slaming him. But it's FRED so.... you know... it's okay.

I’m surprised they aren’t cutting it to 4 so they can keep Fred out of it.

And they WOULD!

No, it's not okay for Fred to pander!

All I can say is he does less of it than the other top candidates.

maybe so. I don’t know how much he panders. I watched the whole deal on CSPAN a bit ago. Guess it was a replay of a Sunday event. Looked like BIG time pandering to me.
