I get your point. Now just compare Fred overall to all other candidates & stop looking for perfection...even St. Reagan wasn't perfect...

Here’s a thought. Ethanol from corn is not a good way to go.

However, if you can allow it as possibly part of the mix, in the long run markets could become more involved in decreasing ethanol from corn and increasing it from switchgrass like they have done in Brazil. Fred could be saying Ethanol is ok, without intending to stress corn. He could have the long view that eventually things will swing over to better sources than corn.

If so, it’s a wiley and wise approach, in my view. And defensible. Better than going to Iowa and saying, ok, folks, no more corn ethanol from this day forward.

I was wondering the same thing, about the truth of Ethanol being a net-energy (and inflationary) "non-solution" to foreign energy dependence. Nevertheless, I though Fred's answer was prudent in a room full of Ethanol believers.

"We have to look a the broader picture, and Ethanol will play one part of many that would make up a larger chnage in direction from the direction were heading in now."

That was a soft answer, but a hard answer "wouldn't have prudent at this juncture." Clearly, you should take heart that Fred isn't an Ethanol Disciple of any kind. That was hardly the place to have punched a hole in the Ethanol myth. As it was, I doubt the answer he gave was what those hoping for an Ethanol Is The Answer response.

People in TX can’t participate in this process, for the primary is March 4, and it will all be over by then.

I can support Thompson, but will liberal northern Republicans wanting subsidies and expanded government sink his candidacy early in the process?

The key word is “PART.” Ethanol, as we all know, in and of itself is not a solution, and the way it is being produced now is not really the best way (or all that helpful even), but as part of a multifaceted energy policy it has a place.

Of course domestic drilling and refining is part of that.

I checked out your playing. Nice, solid rythm without ever going above the seventh fret to try for a dazzling solo.

Kinda like Fred, think about it.

LOL..... I guess that’s one way to look at it. :) You know... afer I can lay down a rhythm track .... drums, bass, guitar etc.... I can REALLY be dazzling above the 7th fret :)
