You seem to be the only person touting Intrade as the end-all of numbers. I’ve been a political activists for a while now and never even heard of it. I’m talking about well-known polling sources and information I’ve heard from Iowans (might want to check out the Iowa FReeper board).

Please tell me how Thompson “nuanced” his pro-life position? Upset about the endorsement a wee bit, are we?

Upset the evangelical community? Mike, is that you???? This evangelical is more than excited about supporting Thompson.

Look, Hunter is a great guy and is right on the issues (save economics). But his national poll numbers are so low, he won’t even be at the next debate and most people have never heard of him. Thompson is actually running ads in Iowa and making the rounds - he has a shot so I guess we can continue this conversation on Thursday.

Again, Hunter won’t be on the Arkansas GOP primary ballot and write-ins don’t count in my homestate. How can he win if he isn’t even on the ballot in many states???

Looking at Intrade now..is this a betting website?

This South Carolina GOPer saw through the Huckster from the first time I heard him. Huck is a thin skinned Nanny State disaster and IMO a shill for the DRat/Clinton Crime family!

Thank you for your responses. I wanted to respond to them point by point but will take for ever! :) sorry.

I do agree that there is a MAJOR division between social and normal conservatives. In all honesty I don't even understand what all those concepts since I am not a lawyer or a teacher or an economist or simply an intellectual. I am an ordinary person on the technical side. For instance when people talk about personal 'privacy,' the whole thing just makes me laugh. PRIVACY?... Now THAT is something I would like have!... But every time I get on the internet, even though I am careful enough not to accept 'cookies' from most websites, still you have accept some of you could never do many things. The point is, I get the feeling there is someone BEHIND MY MONITOR :) watching everything I do!... Whatever searches I do and websites I visit, all of the sudden I begin to see pop ups related to what I was looking for. I am so sure that my life, my salary, my health records are probably in some database ready to be sold... and all these "theories and concepts" don't help me at all. Let alone how difficult it was to get politicians to pass a simple law so that we could keep those *&^%$ marketers away from my home telephone. So when people talk about privacy a laugh! :)

As to the last part that you would hold your nose and vote for Huckabee if you had to, I don't know what to tell you. I certainly can not do that with most of the Reps and the reason is perhaps because I am not a hard core Republican. I mean I have no trouble supporting guns, lower taxes, smaller government, state rights? (I don't know enough about this), individual liberties?... hmmm... of course, BUT, what does that mean in terms of curbing the danger of the homosexual-agenda? OBVIOUSLY, there have to be some limits to certain 'individual liberties' if we are to live together w/o killing each other. I have not trouble with a national Id card or having my identity or information checked closer by the government! Yes, I trust the government to do this w/o hurting me. I think is necessary in this new world of terrorist.

The point is, I do agree with your principles to a degree, not necessarily hard core on all of them... But no question that social-values, meaning abortion (trying to curb it or limit the destruction of babies), fighting the homosexual agenda (protecting the Military, the boys-scouts and children in our schools from them), fixing illegal Immigration, personal responsibility, take precedence over the other concepts or principles. Get my point?

If your principles do not match mine at all, then yes, we have a problem, we must from two different planets :)

Worse yet...Am I a "Lefty?" There are two big issues coming down the pipe as the baby boomers get older... two BIG issues that will transform the Republican if they want to compete with the Democrats or be relegated to become simply the minority party: Social security and universal healthcare. As people get older, they will use their voting power to demand attention from the Government. Example: The idea that some people do not any kind of health insurance even though they work hard is not right as far as I am concerned. Another one, as a technical person (computers, communications), many jobs in my field are being 'outsourced' slowly, quietly but surely to India and Philippines. Is this right?... Normally I would have said a corporation has the right to maximize profits, period. Now... I am not so sure :) The moment you begin to see people who have good levels of education or training and the experience, losing their jobs with no protection simply because some A**h** exective whan to save a few dollars with no regards for human beings... you begin to wonder... if all this BS about globalism is the right policy. Especially when coupled with all the noise about outrageously high executive salaries. All these things will put pressure on the Republicans, as they are equated with being the party of businesses, or the rich as some people call it. I should say I am a fan of Lou Dobbs from CNN if that tells you anything? :)

So... I don't know if I am a "lefty" in some degree, perhaps I am and that is the reason Huckabee does not sound so terrible to my ears... Economics may dictate your politics and the fact is that not every Republican maybe in a complete secure economic sitution. Many of you guys sound to me like you are rich :)... and when one has no money issues to worry about, one can be very pure and intellectual about many things. Again, no hard feelings, I don't want to insult anyone, just calling them like I see them.

(sorry for the English and other errors but I am too tired of correcting every single mistake or typo) The main thing is that you understand the trust of what I am saying. Happy New years everyone! :)

I just noticed that Paul & Giuliani are tied in Iowa polls.

Do you think Fox will drop Giuliani from the debate?? They are fair & balanced after all.
