I don’t understand why people are thinking this is “alarming”. Can someone please explain?

But I thought Bubba Clintoon was going to be sent around the world by Hillary to try to convince people to like us again.

I’m going over to France today. I wouldn’t have done that 4 years ago.

Britain and France are both much too snobbish and arrogant, as evidenced by this shoving match, to honestly be the closest Ally of the Greatest Country on Earth, the United States of America.

Just look at what Britain did to Blair. And see how France can turn on a dime. While Germany has a distinct lack of anti-Americanism found in those other places. People should come visit Germany and they will see American influence all over the place. New Years Eve I walked past a club that had people lined-up outside all dressed like 1950’s American Rock and Roll style Elvis hair, leather jackets and petticoats. Man they must of had a good time!

That’s what I am talking about, open, honest admiration of America imbued in the people, not empty political egotistical grandstanding that is self-serving for the moment.

France has been crapping on the U.S. for decades.
Hell, DeGaulle use to make light of kicking the U.S. every chance he got.
France seems to be coming around as of late BUT let’s play the wait and see for a period of time.

Maybe the last of the genetic bravery in France has arisen.

Maybe, but Sarkozy is a native of Hungary, although a long time French citizen.

No surprises here. Britain has been America’s best ally since practically forever. We share a language, the concepts of the rule of law and protection of property.

Britain isn’t suddenly cozying up to America. We’ve put troops, blood and treasure on the same hazard as you guys have. But for some dubious Freepers, Brown’s attack on anti-Americanism is a chance to vent their weird hatred of all things British. Bizarre.

The maverick Lord Malloch-Brown, who has angered many members of the Bush administration with anti-American statements, was instantly reprimanded by the British foreign secretary, David Miliband, and has since found himself obliged to apologize for suggesting that Britain should start negotiating with the Islamist terrorist groups Hezbollah and Hamas.
Moloch-Brown is more like it. :') Thanks george.

Did you read the link in post #8?

He called for "more morality" in "financial capitalism" and a fairer distribution of profits, earnings in commodities, raw materials and new technologies.

That is straight out of the Communist Manifesto - Lenin would be proud.

In case it eludes anybody, a free market capitalist society does not "distribute" profit.

Profit is earned.

By me, that’s easy: Britain. Britain and the old Dominions shed blood side by side with us in WW2 fighting Hitler and Tojo. Britain was the first in Europe to stand with us in 1990 after Saddam invaded Kuwait. Britain stood by us and shed blood with us in Afghanistan and Iraq. Britain gave the US two of the best friends the USA has ever had - Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher. No, Britain is not perfect, but if I were a grunt and the US was in trouble, I’d want to see Brits, Canadians, Australians, and Israelis sharing my foxhole.

France gave us the US-hating/Britain-hating De Gaulle and the similar anti-US type successors until Sarkozy. Sarkozy seems like a good guy, but let’s wait and see. France has given me a lot of reasons not to trust her, at least not too quickly.

‘Just look at what Britain did to Blair.’

The reason we disliked/hated Blair started LONG before Iraq mate.Blair and New Labour have been one of the worst, if not the worst British govt of modern times.Domestically, Blair and his govt were and have been a disaster.

Incompetent, lying, deceitful, obssessed with control freakery...

With the greatest of respect, most Americans only know him as ‘the guy who stood by us on Sept 11th and by Bush in Iraq’ and still know little or nothing about the 10 years of Blair/Brown and New Labour.

Quite right. If some of the Freepers here think Britain isn’t even an ally of the U.S.A, nevermind it’s closest ally, while British blood is being spilled in support of American then honestly what is the point in trying to educate them??

Maybe a smooth talking Brit ran off with one of their girlfiends? Inferiority complex perhaps??

De Gaulle hated that we saved France.

The normal folks in Normandy, etc, were much happier that we did save them.
